clif321 wrote:For me this is a very good-sounding synth with a refreshingly easy-to-use design (though I still have to get my mind around le Masque). I purchased it a couple of days ago and I'm enjoying it a lot.

Here are a few small bugs I noticed in version 0.92:

1. If I have a preset loaded with "information" window showing and I then load a new preset that happens to open with the "information" window showing (for example, BA Heavy Rubber LtZ), the text in the "information" window does not update automatically when the new preset loads. Instead I have to separately press the information button after the new preset opens to make the text for the new preset replace the text for the previously loaded preset. Not a big deal but hopefully this can be fixed in the final version.

2. When I reopen the synth after using the "change skin" command, the bottom part of the background gui panel (on the left where the xils logo is and on the lower right side of the same panel) doesn't redraw but instead there is black space. Again, this is not a big deal because pressing one of the "keyboard/effects/information" buttons makes the lower part of the background panel redraw and fill in correctly. But it would be nice if this could be fixed. Please note that this happens to me only when I load the synth in savihost x64 for quasi-"standalone" programming and testing (for the record I use a Sony laptop running Win7 x64). In my main DAW (Sonar X1 x64), the Oxium gui redraws correctly when I change skins, so maybe this is a savihost problem and not an Oxium problem. (It would be nice, though, not to have to delete the synth in the DAW and then reopen it just to change skins, assuming that was feasible from a programming standpoint.)

3. In the "Feeling" menu there are two "Extreme Modulation" categories (the first one has an upper case "M" beginning the word "modulation" and the second has a lower case "m" beginning the word modulation). I'm guessing the presets in these categories need to be retagged with the same capitalization so these two categories will combine into one.

4. On the modulation pane, I would change the spelling of "AUTOWHA" to "AUTOWAH" -- which I think is the more common spelling for a wah-wah effect. (The Oxium v0.92 Manual actually spells it both ways in different places, so one way or another this should be corrected and made consistent.)

5. The manual (the version distributed with 0.92) also still has other small typos needing correction.

I hope this helps. As I said I am really enjoying this synth and wish the developers a big success with it.

Thanks Cliff or your nice words about Oxium sound.

Info Window : Yes its annoying. It will be fixed : Turnaround : Click in another tab, then reopen info tab. Thanks for the reminder

Skin: Yes atm, you have to relaunch Oxium to change skin, its the normal behaviour. As another behaviour would be an additional source of bugs, we prefer to really take time to adress this one. Dont expect anything soon.

Feeling : Double Extreme modulations entry : Yes we'll fix that.

Autowah and manual typos : Very minor but will be fixed too as time allows.

I must admit that I was a bot worried :-o when I saw your long post, but you're right these are small bugs, and the most annoying will be fixed for v 1.0.

Thanks for your input :)

will any of the FR's be addressed for V1?

A few additional more unusual audio clips made with Simon Ball presets  ( SoundsDivine ), wich show another side of what you can do with Oxium.

These clips are wet : I added a bit of reverb on some of them ( always the same reverb sometimes different amounts )

Pad Bandpass Shift

Bass Random Wobble

Pad Trance

Seq Commando

Bass Pitch Black

Some of these instruments will probably end in the Final Factory Library, especially if some of you listening to these clis show their love for them :)

We already include some in the v0.92 release. Some other might be adressed. Hi prirority is given to the factory library also, and the very few cosmetic bugs remaining.

Nice.

Did you use Le Masque to fake a kind of "more_predictable" S&H effect, or is it actually ..... one of the 3 Lfos with the S&H waveform selected :hihi: ( I seem to hear that there's a kind of pattern though so eventually its le masque )

Just the s&h lfo synced. 3 really simple patches. Was hoping to really get in derp but my back problem wont allow that just yet.

3 patvhes were s&h, simple bass and an arp i step wrote in the piano roll
Some lfo on filter too i think.

This is the day of the audio demos :o

In addition to the one I mentioned above we received this morning a link to a very nice and quiet downtempo demo, Beyond the wall, made by our friend SynthDemo you can listen to on soundcloud :

http://soundcloud.com:80/synthdemo/beyo ... -xils-labs

making of : Here's what SynthDemo mentions on the Soundcloud page :

" Single synth demo using the beta of Oxiom from Xils-Labs. 24 tracks of Oxiom, drums and vocals generated separately.

I'm very impressed with the synth, the GUI is a pleasure to use and feels fun to operate, the filters sound great - you can hear a few in the track particularly the formant. The sync sound is particularly organic and the chorus compares well to my Juno 60. Modulation routings are very easy to use and I liked the default routings for 2 of the LFOs to destinations you'd generally route them anyway. All in all a well thought out synth for a pretty amazing intro price if you pre-order.
"

Thanks to him

I just have to say that the Grid is the most brainwrecking tool i've come along in a long while! Megatons of possibilities  Very interesting take on a MSEG :)

By the way, im using the orange skin and my eyes have no problems at all with the colour.
I haven't noticed any bugs in 0.92

Edit: Something i've forgot to report. It might actually be a bug. In the modulation page where you can adjust tremo, autowah and vibrato, the outer circle (amount) does not respond to rightclick (to increase resolution). Same goes for LFO&Env page to the right where you adjust the lfo's.

Yes once you get into it the possibilities are huge - I've made a ton of crazy patches using it already

Alright, i think i found a real bug! :D

How to reproduce:
Open Grid. Rightclick all "things" to remove them all. Now save. Load what you saved.

For me there will now be parts of the default on the right that i had just removed.
Also, when i load "init" it's not initialized but having "things" there.
What shall i call the "things"?
