Are you happy with your Arsenal?.

I'm happy with what I have. I don't need anything else.

Never heard of them
Er. I wouldn't do that if I were you hibs (not the football team).
Some of us live in Tottenham. In fact some of us live in Crouch End and we still do not support the gooners.

Please correct your mistake.

However, I keep accumulating stuff for a variety of reasons:

1. Changing technology - My current excuse is x64 upgrades or substitutes. However, this isn't the only reason. There was a time, for example, when Melodyne was the only viable choice in that space. Stuff gets better/cheaper/faster, and I will change stuff out to stay current.

2. Upgrades - I will almost ALWAYS upgrade my existing gear to stay current, even if it's a paid upgrade. A product will really have to disappoint me before I make the decision not to continue on the upgrade path.

3. Sales, no-brainers, beta-test NFR's, Freebie promos - This is my biggest downfall. Years ago, after paying (slightly discounted) retail prices for Komplete 2, Sampletank 2 and Cubase SX, I rarely, if ever, paid full price for anything else again. Just about anything I've wanted has eventually been severely discounted to the point where it doesn't make sense NOT to pick it up. Or, now, since I'm a customer of so many companies, I'm eligible for some really great promos and deep, deep discounts. Or, the odd no-brainer pops up (I'm looking at you, Etch!).

So, while I'm still acquiring a lot of gear every year, overall, I'm spending a lot less than I used to.

cheers

Some may be able to relate to this. Since writing this post two days ago, I have purchased the following:

1. FXpansion Etch (no brainer)
2. Zildjian Virtual Cymbal instrument (another no brainer)
3. Steinberg Padshop Pro/Zero Gravity upgrade bundle (upgrade from Cubase 6.5)

Clearly I have a problem. :hihi:

So many plugins, so little time...

I know what you mean.

I have my eye on the new upgrade for Padshop, too, but I'm not sure I count upgrades in this. New tools, yes, but updates to what you have (including sound sets) kinda come with the territory of technology.

That said, I AM thinking about the Zildjian Virtual Cymbals.

And again, I'm NOT done buying effects yet. :hihi:

You know... I was totally happy. Then that Etch sale happened. Okay, fine. +1 filter. Then I discovered this Klanghelm compressor. +1 compressor. (Wow, that compressor is good.)

I'm done......for a few minutes :hihi:

You sir or madam, just saved me $80! Thank you! :-) (or maybe you cost me $120 :? ... no I'm a glass half full guy... so you saved me $80! :-) )

My arsenal is now one Trilian away from complete... of course I won't stop there, because once I have everything that is on my "I need" list, there's so many others on my "I would like to have" list.

I have first rate drum and bass synths and samples. Everything else, I can get what I need out of what I have. For me, new stuff refreshes my creativity.

I hope to be done but nobody knows what will be released tomorrow.. :)
I'm also quite sure i'll participate in some more Beta tests in the future.

Anyway currently my most important (or most used) synths seem to be: Xils Lab Oxium, Tone2 Saurus, Tone2 ElectraX, Synthmaster 2.5, Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V, Waldorf Blofeld. Also Diva could be added to the list.

Those are all synths for which i have already have done sound design or am working on a bank.
I am quite sure i will sell a few softsynths this year, especially those which i never or rarely used for doing my own sounds.

I'm actually in reverse! :-o :-o

Removed in the past 3 months:

- Korg Legacy M1
- Korg Legacy Wavestation
- Dimension LE

Still Installed:

- Alchemy
- Rhino 2
- Rapture
- Tattoo

..that's it, and Rapture is in danger of removal as well.

I need a good guitar for blues/rock, if I can find one I like, I'll add it in. I'm not fond of the Rapture guitars, and the Dimension LE ones were.. meh.

I'm more than pleased and should get rid of plugins if I could. I have bought quite a few no-brainers and got some NFR's as compensation for my ehm...services.

I have looked through my projects and got a bit surprised because my number one VSTi plugin seems to be Fabfilter One. I use it mainly for effects but also for basses and many other things. On second place comes Alchemy and Battery 3. After that it's hardware like Shruthi-1 and Casio CZ 3000. For effects it's all about AD, Camel Audio and IKM stuff. Dubstation, CamelPhat and Brickwall Limiter is on almost every project.

I'm constantly tempted but I have been able to resist my GAS so far *knocks on wood*. I have realized during the years that I do need several VSTi's (or hardware) with different synthesis to cover my needs. I'm missing a wavetable synth like PPG but I think I'll manage. Or I hope so...

I'm generally happy with what I have, both software and hardware wise.

However, I'm always on the lookout for new and interesting sounding stuff, so I'm usually checking out new synths as they appear. Particularly from indie developers. There have been some very good freebies lately. :)

Sometimes, I'll phase out the older software I don't use anymore in favor of newer stuff that just sounds better, or does certain things better. Though, there are a few classic gems that I will never get rid of (Tyrell Nexus 6, Synth 1, Oatmeal, etc.)

Happy with my lot and now starting to downsize and get rid of a few synths/effects from the Aresnal as duplicating or not doing it for me.

Waiting for Cytomics The Drop and will always consider anything uhe, fabfilter or 2CAudios release that was mentioned last Dec (2011).

Hardware wise uninspired...until I see what the DIVA synths going to be like (sub 500 notes lol).
