I think there are also some funny rules in the usage of newer BigFish Audio products

BigFishAudio.com wrote: What is Big Fish Audio's License Agreement? [back to top]
You can use our loops to create, produce and release your own productions without paying Big Fish Audio any royalties. Our products are "license free" because you buy the license to use our products when you buy that specific product. The only thing you are not able to make with our products is a sample library like the ones we sell. You can't resell, loan, or rent any of the Big Fish products you have purchased. Below is a copy of our general license agreement:

The samples contained on our products are licensed, not sold to you, the individual end user, by Big Fish Audio. This non-exclusive, non-transferable license is granted only to the individual end user who has purchased an unopened, new and lawfully made copy of this product from a dealer or distributor authorized by Big Fish Audio. All samples remain the property of Big Fish Audio and are licensed only for use in the creation of a recorded or live performance that includes the licensed samples as part of a derivative musical work created by the licensed end user. This license expressly forbids resale, rental, loan, gift or transfer of these samples in any format or via any medium, except as part of a derivative musical work. This license does not allow you to include the samples, whether unmodified or as part of a derivative work, in any music library or sample library product. However, a "special use" license may be requested from Big Fish Audio, free of charge, if you wish to use this product as part of a musical work intended for use with music libraries (some conditions apply, and Big Fish Audio retains the right to refuse any request that does not meet those conditions). Any unlicensed usage will be prosecuted to the maximum extent possible under the law.
Looks normal to me.

Anyway, we're hijacking this thread. I'm sure Urs will notice the question and reply himself now.

I know which it is but no need to bring that one up again. He has since changed that.

In reality there's no difference between private and commercial use.
Actually, there is: in a commercial context you are exposing the content to the public and you are making money with it. From an educational perspective, there can be many reasons to get ZebraHZ, none of them commercial. I asked this question out of respect for the authors' work: this may seem superficial but I assure you that when an author and user are clear on how the author's work will be used, the world is generally a much simpler and happier place. ;)

A quick example of a virtual machine with a commercial use license agreement is the Gorillaz version of the Korg iOS iElectribe app, which contains excerpts from Gorillaz tracks. It states this in its user agreement:

"Commercial use of the works created by using this application is subject to the copyright clearance from right holders."

So clearance for commercial use can in principle be obtained or bought in that context. Maybe... You have to contact the authors and discuss. Things are not always black and white.

Thanks!

I dunno, a zebra peaking your db meter? :hihi:

Actually, that'd be a wicked looking skin. I'd say ratios: 80% black or something like it, then 10% white and 10% red.
Are there any skinners left out there who'd be up to skinning our dazzles?
Maybe I'm just not capable of finding anything on the internet lately, but are there even any custom skins for the current version of Zebra?

EDIT: I really should say, FULLY functional skins. I know you can use some, but you're missing some rather crucial knobs if you use them.

In this Zebras case, that will be "patches" ;-)
