Reaper also crashed quite a few times for me lately. Mostly in relation to some old plugins though, but still... those run fine in Cubase, so.

I believe the problems we're experiencing with Reaper (now 4.xx) are due to using both 32 and 64 bit vst's. My other laptop is still running XP/sp3 and not using any 64 bit plugs. Cruising along quite nicely still.

Maybe for some. For me, it's something else (because I can simply load an audio file and have zooming/start stop/docking HELL!

yea I have noticed for quite some time with my reaper 4.xx that I have been getting lots of crashes with my 64bit plugins. I might start having all plugins start bridged I did it once to try it out and it worked. Its just annoying

I don't use it atm but I guess it would be Propellerhead Reason, the word's most bug free DAW!

Although it's not quite a DAW in the normal sense.

c'mon, Reason is a DAW ever-since it can record audio. (that was the only thing that did hold it back from the title AFAIK)
Why do I care? ... well dunno, I kinda always liked Reason!

Yeah, reason..........great daw, but certainly it's own beast. I think wanting vst support is fair.

Reaper also has been crashing whenever I open it up after doing seemingly random things. It used to be solid a couple updates ago. Studio One on the other hand was crashy on me when I first domo'd 2.0.1 but at 2.0.6 is solid, though there was a Rewire memory leak bug that made me totally disable the service. I don't know if they fixed that yet.

Samplitude ProX 64-bit with only 64-bit plugins has been rock solid lately.

@reaper: Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I'm not getting crashing (other than my very strange groove tool thing, which isnt' really a deal anymore) I'm getting standard workflow BS. To clarify:

-start/stop is utterly bizarre. No, I'm not talking about having the main window "forward", I'm talking about it BEING forward and not being able to stop or start

-Docking HELL! Though docking works fine it seems to be affecting other things adversely......not the least of which.......

-ZOOMING f**k me! JHFC, I mean, wtf? When/how did this start? If I have docking open and use "whatever" command to zoom.......it may or may NOT perform correctly. UGGGG! This is not common! Not normal! I'm not used to it

This doesn't even begin to cover all the strange little odd things I can't even go into here

ATM for me, the most stable between S1, Reaper, T3, FLS - is Tracktion 3 on Win7 64bit. Totally solid when the track count is < 92 and plugins < 200. I'm the luckiest Tracktioneer in the world. It's rendering an 80 track song right now using two cores while I use the other two to post on KVR. How fair is that?

This stability has been hard-earned. Without any updates from Mackie, one gets to know all the weak points and works around them. Two years ago it was a crashfest, but now with groundhog wisdom it just works and plays. Sometimes the trailing edge is the safest place to stand.

In the One-Synth-Challenge there always seems to be some issues with plugins for most DAWs (especially FL and Ableton), with few or none for Reaper.

I think the Reaper issues only started with the last couple updates for me. There haven't been many updates recently either.
