I bought a second hand game recently, and didn't manage to activate it. So I contacted Steam support about license transfer, here is the reply I got:

Steam support wrote: The buying, selling, or trading of Steam accounts, games, or CD keys is a violation of the Steam Subscriber Agreement.

Steam games and accounts cannot be transferred between users.

We will not be able to assist you with this request.

Please contact the seller about a refund.

Will not the same apply to license transfers of Omnisphere and other software controlled by Steam?

No, I am not "jalous". I saved up and purchased Omnisphere some time ago. The amount of work that went into the sound design is amazing and I've learned quite a bit by deconstructing the patches contained within.

And if you work at a place that has so much music software around why did you have to open a thread about finding a key for Omnisphere here? Shouldn't you have just walked inside, asked your co-workers who threw it out (and why) and then ask them for the key?

You do that. I'm sure the local distributor often gives out keys to people that find Omnisphere discs in "the garbage".

i know who threw it away.he is not so friendly and wont give the key anyway.
why not ask distributor?
i just asked someone to get some toontrack stuff(only drums,not the pianos) and im shure it will work out...
offcourse that is related to my workplace/contacts.

As has already been said... they won't just give you a key if you own the discs. You'll have to prove that you have purchased it somewhere/from someone. Which won't be possible in your case.

I'm sure they still wouldn't give out a key, even if you could prove you purchased it. People don't just give out keys for $500 software packages--if you purchase it, you need to make it your beeswax to keep track of your license. A distributor won't give a rat's ass if you lost your key--especially not for someone who just randomly stumbled upon some installation media.

Honestly, there is really no discussion here. Just because you have the installation discs (that you "found" near the dumpster... sure...) doesn't mean you have a license.

I'm surprised this thread hasn't been locked yet, as it seems like a pretty obvious attempt at getting a non-legit Omnisphere authorization code... Maybe it's just me.

It's as good as finding an empty Access Virus Ti2 box in the trash and then asking how to get Access to mail another one at no extra cost.

The way software works is you pay for a license to use it, the box and discs are worth nothing.
