Introductory (!) price: $49.99 USD  I wonder what the full price will be.

And for that matter, what plugins are included and how much all the in-app purchasees can add up to. Funny that line: "Includes optional plugins"; makes you wonder if the "included" plugins are optional, or not, or which. Any details you can give us, Storms?

AuriaLink is a neat trick (sync two iPads for double the tracks). Might have to borrow my GF's...

Finally the cat's out of the bag!

Definitely too expensive when you think at all the plug-ins we'll have to buy optionally. But it is a gorgeous app and if it can combine with the coming Audiobus to record intern apps then I'll buy it for sure.

Well I don't find $49.99 too expensive as a base price, but I'm wondering how much more they plan on eventually setting the final price to; the fact that they haven't advertised the final price yet tells me that they're likely going to wait and see how well demand goes.

It certainly one of the nicest audio apps to come out for iOS. Right now I'm looking for excuses not to buy it too ;) But I think I'll at least wait for the first reviews. Shouldn't be too much longer...

So I couldn't wait and bought it at this "introductory" Price. First thing I've done is looking at the price of the in app purchase:

Drumagog 5: 20$
PSP Audioware Echo and Microwarmer: 10$ each
FabFilterPro-Q: 30$
FabFilter Micro: 10$
OverLoud THM: 20$

Post

Has anyone who's bought this tried Overloud THM yet? Wondering how it compares to JamUp and Amplitube.

Being integrated into the DAW seems like it would be a big plus.

Post

Damnit. I thought this thread said Arturia beta testing. That's what I get for not fully reading the subject.

Thanks! ;)

Thanks again! And really pretty good compared to the price of their full blown counterparts, as long as these aren't just introductory prices and their performance is up to a respectable standard. So for $150 right now you get the whole enchilada. It's expensive for an iOS app, but I think it's fair to say this app deserves to be looked at from the wider market perspective. I'm expecting the support to be up to that level too.

So the PSP ChannelStrip and MasterStrip, the IR Convolution Reverb, the ClassicVerb, StereoDelay and StereoChorus, and the ReTune plugin are all really included? That's pretty sweet.

If you have the time, please let us know what you think of the app, in particular the built in fx and how you get on with a test record. But there's a good chance, that might be too late for me though... ;)

Yes all the other effects you mentioned are included. I am not able to test it deeply right now as I am lying in a bed in an hospital. But the first general impression is good. It sounds really good. Effects are surely one of the bests available so far on ios.

It's almost quite a bit strange to have this professional feeling on the iPad. It is definitely not an app for amateur music makers "in the train" but for the ones used to professional DAWs, it's a dream becoming reality.

I know I'll love it.

To be honest, I tried that, however, when you connect it back to the iPad, Auria reinitializes the sound card and it resets back to the default. Perhaps you would have better luck than me.
So how can Auria claim "up to 8 inputs" with the US-800 on their hardware page? If there are artifacts on the recorded tracks, I wouldn't call them usable. Are you sure you did it right? This is how I do it with Multitrack:
  • 1. Connected the digital source (a Mini-Me) to the 800's SPDIF input, both off.
    2. Turned on the digital source and set to output 44.1 24-bit.
    3. Plugged the USB between the US-800 and my MBP.
    4. Powered up the 800.
    5. Accessed the os x 800 config utility: it showed a lock to my digital signal as 44100 without any intervention on my part.
    6. I didn't have to change anything else in the config.
    7. Exited the config program, and just unplugged the USB cable at the 800.
    8. Connected the CCK to a usb cable and to the iPad
    9. Connected that cable to the already on 800.
You might also want to try disconnecting and reconnecting the digital source as that seems to work with Multitrack as well. Maybe that will reset the digital input and restart the lock after Auria is active.

After that I opened Multitrack , created a 24-bit 44.1 project, assigned 8 channels to the 8 inputs, and recorded 8 tracks. There was an issue with latency, which was fixed by going to the latency option, setting it to a higher latency and then setting it back to low. The digital tracks were pristine.

If Auria can re-init the card, they should know how to at send the unit commands to set it up properly for a digital clock. That's all that's needed.

Yikes, I know too well what that's like: I hope you get better soon and overcome whatever obstacles life has thrown your way. At least you have internet access! Is it wireless or wired? I have to go in for a procedure in a couple of months...

Post

thanks for you support.

Wireless access. I'd drive crazy without iPad here. Hopefully I can leave on wednesday.

Also a beta tester here for Auria.

You will find this to be the most professional recording app out there for IOS.

The stills are quite accurate looking.

Hope ya'll enjoy.

Let the reviews begin!!

Please someone test it with Alesis IO Dock.
If it work with IO Dock i will buy it sure.

Post

It works with the IO dock. My friend has it, as well as I, so I guess I gotta but Auria. ;)

My goodness, but this thing looks incredible (in still pictures,) and the feature set is unmatched on IOS.

But it all comes down to performance. 48 (!) tracks, FX sends on many, full automation on each track, overloud guitar rig, etc. etc... Can an Ipad really handle all of this?

I have my doubts. But I remain hopeful. We need someone versed in DAWs (not an IOS expert!) to review this thing.
