You'll get far more performance for your money.
Agreed...I'd go for a MINI with minimum memory...buy the max memory cheaply on Amazon, use whatever monitor you have and go from there...if you are not just in love with iMac screen of course...we'd all love dual 27" thunderbolt displays but if you have that kind of cash there are a million better options anyway...

You can now buy the 27" screen that the iMac uses for less than £400 from a company called Hazro. Sure the case won't be bling, but the screen is identical.

Sure, but that means that you shouldn't bother buying anything bigger than a dual-core processor, under that theory...

Thats an interesting point, so the only differentiation is the processor differences the size of the hard drive, and the two thunderbolt ports. Both mini and iMac 27 are missing USB 3 and I fear that coming iteration of the Minis and the iMac may drop the firewire ports and the internet connection.

I would think at least though the outputs on the next iMac and mac mini should look something like the New 15" Macpro without the Retina screen that has: ehternet, firewire 800 Usb 3 and 1 thunderbolt port, preferably 2 but i could accept one. All I know is I will have to go out and get two adapters or and expensive thunderbolt hub to make my system work.

waves break, but somehow it all makes sense.
