3 months ago I discovered a ZynAddSubFx. I was thrilled. So powerful virtual instrument and open source. I noticed that GUI is a problem. This was a challenge for me. The idea was been to put all on the 1024x768. Master and midi keyboard are visible all time, everything in the middle is on scroll.

Doesn't look bad... but the challenge here is writing and adapting the code for it... perhaps even changing the GUI framework... Not an easy task.
LE: Also I would not call it v2.5 as even the most current Linux version is 2.4.3.
BTW: what toolkit did you use to draw these?

A very credible effort. As jackoo says the greatest problem is GUI itself. I think that efforts have been made (with both Yoshi & Zyn) to isolate this from the back-end but I don't know what progress has been made. It's no small task
It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently no longer an 'elderly', now a 'senior'! Is that promotion?

That would sure be nice, so I say I believe it can succeed. ZynAddSubFX is such a great sounding synth.budislav wrote:I believe that we can succeed

ZASF has a lot of graphical views and porting it as a proper vst is not a matter of a simple translation. Perhaps distributing the load to a coordinator and several programmers could make things easier.
Using IPlug could be an idea.

Too bad. I can't get past the current GUI. I know it sounds good, but it's really unusable to me with the way everything is laid out over lots of windows. The interface really REALLY needs to be consolidated into something more meaningful.
