I paid more than "10 bucks" the last couple of months/years, only to find out "of, you want an update - pay again" or now "you want it free? get it!".

I do't have any respect for something like that, neither people who accept it for granted or say "it's cheap, lighten up". Money doesn't grow on trees.

Personal opinion - you don't have to like it.

I agree with you, that's why my product will never be free, out of respect for those who paid (happily they are many).

To the thread poster: Thanks for the infos by the way! Beat magazine has been very generous recently (there was Zampler).

I browsed the link, filled in my mail adress, got a mail, without dl link. I confirmed newsletter subscription, took me to a thank you site, no download link... Twice now... (iPhone)

What am I doing wrong?

Just a question what's better. Pay 10 bucks one time, or get harrassed with newsletter or email adress exchange when you provide them ur adress... not really for free too.

Well so far I haven't had any luck downloading this... any suggestions other than the "Internet Download Manager" - unfortunately it wouldn't work on my system. I've tried all the browsers I use - Opera, Firefox and K-Meleon. I've also tried a couple of Download Managers, but they can't capture the actual download link - so the download fails. The only thing I haven't done is email them. Why can't they just give you a simple download link? Better still a torrent... which you can pause and resume at any time. Don't get me wrong - I'm very grateful they are giving this away for free. Just make it easy on people for a change would be my advice. So any help or suggestions are more than welcome. In the meantime, I'll go back to banging my head up against the wall.

I'm still using IE7 and had no problem with the d/l.
There are a couple of sites that I trust but McAfee real time scanning security prevents me downloading from. (not this Beats site though). So I have to switch real time scanning off to download from those sites.

Probably be sorted tomorrow though if you can wait.

There, I just emailed them in German, even though I don't speak it. Have to wait and see what happens.

Germans easy, I had babelfish but it changed to ms translator somehow. I sent a similar message to a japanese site, it translated as;
the reply was identical and still no working link, lol.

WOW, thanks for the heads up. I searched KVR and found http://www.beat.de/waldorf/

Sorry you're mad about the freebies. I rarely buy a synth. When I do, I pay very little. I know that I'll eventually get something nice as giveaway or a deep discount.

Ouch - hopefully that doesn't happen to me. If all else fails could someone who did download it, zip DUNE and send me an email? Or would that go against the EULA? When they are giving it away for free, should this be an issue if you've given them your email address but aren't able to download it?

Add me to the list fo those for whom the download doesn't work. It's quick, and I get the whole thing, but it won't unzip.

21.5 MB (22,592,863 bytes) for Beat_StudioStarter ? If it is double-click on it and then click on Tools and then Repair archive

A new file called "Rebuilt (original name)" will be created, see if it works, then delete original and rename the zip if you wish to keep it.

I appreciate the help, but what are you using? I'm on my Mac right now, and I won't have access to a Windows/Linux machine for a few days.

Post

what on earths a mac ? lol. Was there a choice of pc or mac ? sorry, it's like I just don't see those things, so you perhaps should look for a repair utility for mac. Or is it a case of they never go wrong so there is no such thing as a repair utility for mac.

Joking aside, it doesn't appear to be limited offer so I'd give it another 24 hours.
