Propellerhead are number 2 on the market after Avid. According to Propellerheads CEO at an entrepreneur meeting that has been recorded (marketshare).

Ok, now... according to me, myself and I, I am the best musician in the world after Chopin. Now record it (for descendants)

I don't think you correctly interpreted me here. My point isn't that Reason is unpopular - we all know that it is a huge success. But as the only platform for Re it offers a limited market that comprises a finite number of Reason 6.5 owners. The many other successful platforms add up to a larger market than Reason on its own. That is the sense in which I mean "limited".

It's good to hear that developers who have invested their time, and made the initial launch deadline with their first products, are going to see good rewards for that. What will be more interesting will be to see how many sales the "limited market" of Reason users can offer as the number of product choices grows.

The whole DAW/audio software market is a pretty limited market.

Quite a few developers developing RE's though, so they got to think that it's at least a bit promising i guess.

Magnus Lidström stated that he is selling more Bitstream REs right now than AU/VST.

We should let the developers decide themselves what plattform they prefer.

My point isn't that Pro Tools is unpopular - we all know that it is a huge success. But as the only platform for TDM, RTAS, AAX it offers a limited market that comprises a finite number of Pro Tools owners. The many other successful platforms add up to a larger market than Pro Tools on its own

That's interesting news, although of course the VST/AU versions have been out a lot longer and already been good sellers.

But yes, I completely agree that it's up to developers to decide, and it will be interesting to see how long it will be before Reason has Re products offering stuff to compete full on with the VST market (Kontakt, Alchemy, Pianoteq, Omnisphere, etc).

I guess at that time we will also be able to do a fair comparison between the actual Re technology and the VST3.5 technology (for example) and see which offers users the better experience.

So, as far as I can see, PH policy is this?! I mean: since Reason is a best seller, rather than adopting vst standard, as everone else does, they pretend to have their own exclusive copyrighted $$$ plugin?! WTF, I thought it was just a question of reason's limitations. If not, well, worse than ever and I was right to sell reason

Because it is just like talking about apple's policy, or monsanto, microsoft, nike, coca-cola... I did not think they were like this

Agreed, although I think it's important to note that outside of a few niches (scoring), those kinds of monster ROMplers are basically irrelevant to modern music. When I look up the top bands reviewed in Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, etc. I consistently hear them mentioning hardware/analog synths and included software instruments (in Reason, Logic, Live, etc) way more than I hear them mention anything in the softsynth world. For songwriters, simplicity trumps power 9 times out of 10.
