Regarding Reaper I suspect it is the tools addons that may be causing stability issues for me, like the groove tool for example. So maybe Reaper isn't necessarily to blame but I wouldnt want to use it without the addons. I need to reinstall on a new machine soon so will make sure everything is up to date.

yes I think it might be this to In about a week my new custom built machine will be coming in I hope I see my stability back if not I might have to switch back to something else

I am not a Reason user but
out of all the ones I've tried, Reason is possibly one DAW I would not expect to crash at some point.

But then, it's a closed system, with not much of a probability to get broken by 3rd party tools. Which should change soon with RE's.

We will know soon enough, I suppose. But if they conquer plugins market with REs while keeping Reason super stable...

Well, that's not gonna happen, I think

Other than reason I would say FL looked damn stable during the demo period, but not sure if it's true.

FL is just not really something I could see myself using I work with audio more than beats and synths

Just how good is FL Studio for audio? I'm in the same boat...

super limited from my experience. I just dont like the way it looks and feels. the workflow is not for me. but many people use it for beats and stuff minor audio is doable

I have attempted to try the demo about 3 or 4 times now over the years. FL Studio is just so alien to Me personally, No doubt in the right hands it is an extremeley powerful setup and the pay once/upgrades for free is good. However these are definately the right hands with which to exploite it vast potential at all. I can not even get past the kick, clap, hihat & snare little thing

I do not think it was mean't for multi-tracking as I personally am used to multi-tracking. Nothing in the land of FL Studio makes sense to Me. Note I certaintly ain't knocking it at all here, I just can not and will not ever click with it. Leave me Pro Tools, Live + the odd sprinkling of SoundForge and I will get pretty much anything done, What is the saying "different horses for different courses"

Discouraged and despising AVID's Post-PT v9 cunning stuntishness I am keeping an open mind as I won't give them another penny of My money, I have a non-commercial REAPER license which I've yet to investigate in any depth and MAGIX Samplitude X is seemingly mighty fine on paper and nothing like the Ill behaviour AVOID get upto except a one time over charged update or something which was put right for the users *although I could be mistaken there*. They are what I am going to be looking at for when PT9 shall not cut any more mustard (Thats a good few years off at least for Myself anyway), I would easily say/use Live but without an in-depth audio editor for My needs it just is short alittle but f!cking hell it is so much damned fun

reaper works great when you get into it. I have not used pro tools since 8 but I might get 9 maybe. ether way any DAW is great. they do what they are ment to some are ment for beats some are for audio. reaper sucks at midi but so dose pro tools.

Yea, Reaper is a good daw, but it requires digging in and setting things up to your own liking. I wouldn't say that Reaper's MIDI sucks, but I can see it sucking for someone who uses MIDI for composing.

I personally dont get very into the customizing i think that is where people get stuck its all there no need to really get it all set up the way you want. I use it just fine no problems but I dont do much midi at all but when I do I notice its weird like it wont import midi the way its supposed to. its all stretched out and long
