It's always ugly when money and art mix. Van Gogh was (in many people's opinion) one of the greatest painters ever to have lived, but he was broke as hell. For some reason seeing him pimp Blick art supplies would still seem wrong.

Wouldn't seem wrong to me in the slightest. I'd fully expect him to be giving away free prints with every MacDonalds family combo. In fact, he'd probably make some good airline logos too. If Beethoven were still alive I'm sure he'd have done a few jingles by now...very expensive ones too.

And anyway, I never saw music solely as an art. It's always been a way of making a living. i.e. it's always been a business. Business doesn't stop anyone selling their art. The only thing stopping any artist selling their art is the consumer's desire to buy it or not. Probably lots of art wouldn't exist and wouldn't be appreciated by so many if it wasn't hawked around the world.

Someone mentioned hipster bollocks. Some hipsters' bollocks are so droopy, it amazes me they don't trip over their nutsack every time they get off the sofa.

Should point out that audio endorsements dont always mean someone's getting paid as such. i've been privvy to an artists whose had a couple of plugin endorsements. In that case, the company approached them after seeing their name on the order list (after buying the plugin). And the deal was free products in the future. Its often a case of free wares instead of cash for comment. If you love the product then why wouldnt you? if you dont, then well yeah ... fame whore
