I want to thank everyone for the Reaper comments, as I'm now convinced that for my needs, it will not be worth the learning curve.

honestly its a great DAW and the learning curve is not very big. But if you know a DAW well why change it at all.

I'm sure it's great in many ways, which is why it has such a following. But -- learning curve or not -- the midi problems mean it's not for me.

I actually don't want to change my DAW -- Acid Pro 7 -- which has the most intuitive workflow, for my brain and my kind of projects, that I've ever seen. But it is showing its age and has a few non-fatal, but very annoying quirks, usually related to certain VSTis -- but VSTis which I use a lot.

Hmmmm. That sounds like maybe a problem with how the MIDI is being inserted, or the project settings (timebase).

Honestly I dont really know I never looked into it. Audio gets inserted properly and I work on audio usually if i get sent something to mix and it has like synth bass trying to be a real bass I cheat. Record a real one for fun :D
but the time stretching actually usually puts it back in the proper space. reaper is a great DAW I just would not recomend it for anyone who wants to do synth stuff alot. I love it for what I do. Audio work with a few synths. Usually Free :hihi:

How does it gets buggy with synths? I use it for synths only and it's smooth sailing for me, and as I said earlier in the thread, in the One-Synth-Challenge it seems to fare the best of all when it comes to synths-DAW issues.

well, I just can't debate it anymore  but lately there are just an unlimited number of annoying little things that are like WTF. I've pretty much given up :hihi:

if you read my post you would know how it gets buggy with me. its in the post you quoted. the thing i noticed is its not exactly meant for synths. it really does not matter to me if you use it for only synths. to be honest if i have to re learn how to work on midi with a DAW its not exactly ideal.
