Are you pissed off at Reason?

Although myrna has been very repetitive in his posts - basically he has a "single issue cause" of VST in Reason - I've not personally seen him be especially disrespectful or make personal attacks.

There have been a lot of personal comments made towards him though... as there have been towards me in this and other threads.

So it's a tricky one. Personally I don't want to read another post from him saying the exact same thing he has already repeated at least a hundred times.... but nor do I like to see personal rudeness towards other forum members, because that amounts to bullying.

In this and the other threads it seems that the personal abuse has been one way, with Reason enthusiasts resorting to personal insults when intelligent answers elude them. I realise too that for Reason users it gets annoying to see constant criticisms... I think it is only worthwhile continuing to post if we have something *new* to say, and if we can avoid being offensive to others.

Personally I would be happy to see this thread locked, and a couple of similar ones that have run their course. I guess new ones would spring up, but I for one probably wouldn't bother subscribing to them

This was an excellent post once again - thanks for sharing your thoughts. Although I don't share all of your views it was definitely informative and interesting to consider such a well thought out post, and it is exchanges like this that DO make these threads worthwhile

Very good reply headquest and one that should be read by everybody here at kvr to be honest,music production does have that edge over most Hobbys therefore it should demand respect amongst people that enjoy doing it as it does with other Hobbys or professions,shame really

true..the last time I looked (when i had a lot of time on my hands and was curious) roughly 80% of myrna's posts were in Reason threads..bordering on trolling I think, with an overuse of the emoticon.

It is true. Same complains and same responses.
I love reason but not the new policies. I have been repeating, in different ways, the same thing and mostly to the same Defenses Stands comments.
It's always impossible to change anyone's mind when there is confrontation.
But, after all, the Topic Title was calling for more and here we are.
The future will tell and in the meantime I will squeeze the best out of Reason without being squeezed as well financially for the moment until things gets to be a Win-Win solution.

Thank you, these types of exchanges are fun. Wish there were more. I know it sounds like I'm deeply vested in Reason but....far from it. I'm one of those people that likes to try out everything and make calculated decisions. It's the best environment for my needs while understanding completely that it, very well, may not be the best for others and it doesn't have to be.

These programs are like everything else in life, you purchase what works best for you and your budget and enjoy it until it doesn't meet you needs.

Funny. Didn't you a couple of pages ago admit to me that your posts were confusing because you did not provide the "whole picture"? And the thing about Myrna ' s repetitions , doesn't that apply to your posts too? Is there a thread about Reason where you haven't been with the same points all over again? Neither of these tendencies seem like eluding intelligent answers to me but rather like trolling so when someone (like me) trolls back you shouldn't be that surprised.

Though I have my own fanboy thread now I must say that after rereading and analizing this thread all night I will redraw my former trollish views on the matter. I now see your complaints are fully justified, among other things:

1. That PH have ignored a great deal of users beggings for VST support all through the years. This is an evil act for sure even though it might be against the philosophy of Reason being a selfcontained alternative to VST daws or that it may not even be possible form a technical point of view as claimed by some complainers themselves.

2. That PH have expanded the functionality of Reason by adding audio tracks despite the fact that they promised they wouldn't and now force people to use them.

3. That PH now have expanded the functionality of Reasons with RE' s and now force people to buy them and keep them for life. Likewise that they force the developers to spend all their time porting existing software to REs instead of developing VST -even though this isn't possible either according to some critics.

4. That some of the mean Reason fanboys take offence just because you persistently repeat the same criticism in the same patronizing way in 78 posts spread across 6 different threads.

I sincerely apologize for my former behavior, you are indeed not whiners but victims!
I deserve a lifetime ban for sure and will give myself in to the mercy of our lord...eh...Bluedad!

Reason hasn't gone in the direction I wanted. I wanted them to focus more on the rack so we can still use it as a light weight rewire add on for our main hosts. I don't mind RE either as that would have worked well with the rack. But they ruined it for me by adding all the additional CPU and RAM baggage that goes with the audio tracks, additional windows and dongle. It seems so much more cluttered than it was at 3.0.

I'll be sticking with R5 for now. But I'll probably have to abandon it when I finally go 64 bit.

But what leaves me saddened in particular is the lack of resale for any purchased RE and required internet connection. I really don't understand why they had to do this and sincerely hope it isn't copied by other companies.

I'd love them to develop a Reason rack further for those of us who want the rack only. It would have no audio recording capabilities outside the sampling devices but would be able to receive audio via a new rewire protocol. Any pattern exporting could be done direct to midi files rather than to the Reason sequencer. This sort of ties in with the way the product looked like it was going seven years ago. But alas, for me at least, it went the full on DAW direction. And as yet it's long way off being the sort of DAW I want to use.
