I wonder if the bundled one with X1 Prod can be used in other DAWs as well (they're in the cakeW shared plugs folder, so worth a go I guess)?

They work in FLS GeorgeZ. Well the DXi ones inc. reverb and delay do. I just tried them. Apologies if this has already been answered. I didn't read the whole thread.

why not just use the xlutop dxshell? works fine, lets you use other stuff too, like some of the synths and the 'haklf rack' effects....

if you are running Windows, 32-bit, possibly still a no-brainer after (what)... 10 years... 15 years or something, since the Ultrafunk incarnation. Good plugs, very very easy on the CPU. Not jaw dropping effects, but good. I'd buy them again if they were OSX ready, the surround effect is worth it alone. They used to be mega stable, but not sure with the most recent DAWs and OSs...

I looked at them and got a little excited at the price.. but realized I could probably get better (rather, already have) in freeware these days.. sonitus are very old plugins built in a time where CPUs were much slower and display resolutions were much smaller.

Actually I wouldn't doubt it if most audio hosts these days have updated their plugin algos to the point that they surpass the quality of these -- you might already have better bundled.

They're decent plugins (delay is my favourite), but I think Cakewalk should renew Sonar's plugin bundle when they release X3.

I just took few times to try this bundle.
Wow ....
Clearly Delay and Surround are totally excellent.
-> the delay can be controlled left/right (or linked), with different delay time/Feedback/Crossfeed/Mix on L/R. It can be sync with the host or not. The output plugin can be the mix or only the delay. The frequency of the delayed signal can be controlled. Sound is quite good, and it is really really easy to achieve a simple delay or something more complex (pingpong etc ...)
-> surround ... you can control graphically the spacialization and moving it dynamically (sorry english is not my native langage not easy to explain for me). Along the spatial path, attenuation and doppler effect are possible, and path time (time to move on the spatial path) can be controlled (but no sync with host, unhappilly). Some good presets like for exemple moving front to back, left to right, or more complex things which sound like "moving morphing" ....
-> The reverb sounds good to my ear (I'm not an expert). 3 mute buttons and volume sliders to control separatly "dry", "early reflection" and "reverb". Controls are classic
-> for the comp and eq I've not tried too much, as there are so many today, and I dont think they could do better.
-> WahWah / Gate seems OK at first sight (In the song/tracks I use to test, no guitar or noisy recording)

I'm surprised really by the quality of these plugins ....

Is anyone else struck by the irony? People are absolutely obsessed with exact software emulations of hardware that is 30, 40, even 50 years old. People even swoon over emulations of 8-bit game machines. But if software gets just a little bit old, it is immediately worthless.
