ok thanks a lot, those are helpful

Hm... thanks for the update.
The lowend has indeed a finer resolution and shows more flat after the correction. But with a a 1/6th octave smoothing rather than 1/3rd, it clearly shows that ARC does not as much to the frequency response above 1,5kHz.

Still better than no treatment at all.

I've been following this product since it came out , and now may be a good time for me to jump in.

A couple of questions:

If a correction incorporates some boosts, and I assume this should be the last plug on the master bus chain, how do you deal with it overloading the master bus. I guess you just turn it down, but when you disable it aren't the renders down several db?

Can boosts in the bass region overtax the woofers? I've measured my room , and even though its pretty well treated, there are still some peaks and nulls of +/- 5db (before treating it was 10+!)

Are the individual mics calibrated? I've seen mention that its either "old version" or "new vesion" (to paraphrase). I already have a calibrated one for less than $50, so its hard to imagine why ARC wouldn't be.

This one is much flatter the the behringer (the original behrngr design was better than their current offering; had one of them too, but it crpped out )

ARC has its own master gain which you should set to compensate for any level changes. Since the target profile is flat, you shouldn't worry about overtaxing the bass with it. The mics are calibrated. You need one of the mics that shipped with ARC for it to work properly. When you create your measurements, the first thing you do is select which of the two mics you have. Using any other mic than one of these two will result in inaccurate correction.

Until there is a better solution this is a usable workaround (for Mac users):

In the mixing process use the 'Soundflower (2ch)' audio device in your DAW and then use Audio Hijack pro to apply ARC2 to that device:

While tracking I use ARC2 in the master bus and my regular audio interface.

andiw what laser pointer are you using? I'm looking for one but most seem to have momentary switches or are you just holding it when you line up the mic? Thanks.

Just a regular laser pointer from conrad.de here in Germany. I use duct tape to 'hold' the momentary switch.

Any word on getting a demo for ARC2 for ARC1 owners? I know I keep asking, but its just because I'm very excited to try the new algorithm, especially after seeing the improvements it made in other users setups!

No word yet.
We'll let you know if we're able to do it.
If we do, it will probably not happen until a little later on.

Thank you very much for the update! Hopefully it will happen, and with enough time to demo it before the upgrade special ends at the end of the month; or when you say "a little later on" do you think it will be AFTER the upgrade special?
