Ive been atempting to learn this app properly and have quite a good working knowledge now but theres a few points not covered in the forum or manual.

Is the use guide on their site not adequate? http://www.angryredplanet.com/temper/docs/index.html.

As this was an app in development, the manual is lacking alot.chk071 wrote:Is the use guide on their site not adequate? http://www.angryredplanet.com/temper/docs/index.html.
I have read and re read the manual and every forum post.
Its not eveb clear which fuunctions are fully working or partially developed.
Temper was originally called Sequitur and was a mature BEOS app.
The code was lost and the Dev then started over to recreate it on Windows but gave up due to financial problems. At least thats what Ive gleaned from the interwebs.
In an online comment he even offered the Windows source code to someone but they refused (!) as they were after the BEOS code.
Ive gotten as far as i can without some guidance.
So in answer, the online manual is FAR from adequate lol
But anyone wanting to learn more should look at the Sequitur manual.
Its important to get your head arouns the concepts and terms used.

Im almost tempted to get a 2nd PC just for BEOS.
The only app similar is Bars and Pipes on Amiga (which can be run in an emulator) which influenced the development of Sequitur/Temper.
Sequitur allowed you to create your own tools for entering notes which could be fed by a pipeline from another instance of itself (this is a very basic explanation) allowing you to use the realtime echo as a destructive edting too for example.
Sequitur and Temper are the craziest but useful midi apps Ive found.
Theres no other host that comes close to what Temper can do.
Please prove me wrong

Actually i never got into Temper so deep that i could judge that what it does is unique. I just did pretty basic stuff, and then moved on to other sequencers. Hope someone will be able to help you though.

It seemed a very promising host but the developer seems to have pulled the plug on it, a pity because a lot of the more advanced midi features were only available in the full version and it's impossible to buy or register it now. Unfortunately it was Windows only and there is nothing else remotely like it on either platform.

I didnt mean to put people off using this.
If youre after an interesting Arp, load the VSTi version of Temper and check out the Arpegiator. Make sure you have something interesting on your synth controlled by velocity. You will be amazed how much you can tweak a synth realtime just via velocity. It totally transforms a patch.
There is total control over pitch velocity and timing via realtime midi and Shapes.
If you like those modular type bleeps and bloops this makes it TOO easy.
I spent hours the other night playing and its amazimg how tweaking the velocity and timing, even small amounts creats a shifting landsacape of velocity values which influence which notes actually get played.
Its totally addictive and I havent gotten these "sounds" out of any arp before.
If you dont have any luck after reading the docs I be happy to offer some advice.
