No you are incorrect.
The $200usd Logic Pro that can be purchased and dl'ed off the app store is the same as your $500 disk version.
I have Logic8 disk version, I got for $100usd used, right here at kvr, and I don't need 9.
You don't get the 50GB apple loops library with the download version

Anybody can do anything if they set their mind to it

mhh... not in italy. Here if you download the logic app you don't get all the appleloops (20-30 gb), the mainstage, the soundwhatever (i don't remember the name, it is something for audio i never use) and all the rest. You have to buy them, separately, and the price becomes 350€ (500$).

I stand corrected.
Although, that is not the missing parts mentioned by myrna.
...it's also the least interesting aspect of Logic to most.
It still contains 15,000 loops though, which is plenty.

so, what you're saying is that if you buy logic pro you get logic pro, but you dont get some other stuff that isnt logic pro. and you save $300.

wow, glad you cleared that up. no-one had even hinted at that until now.

so, i was correct or incorrect? I mean: logic app is what we (dvd box logic studio owners) have on dvd nr.1. Not the rest.
The rest you have to buy separately, and you reach about 500$. Or I am wrong? In Italy works like that.

The App Store is the same all over the world.
Read the web page. It simply states what the dl includes.
Mainstage2, samples, 15,000 loops. They can't sell it separately as a dl anywhere else...legally that is.

mhh... i guess you are a little bit confused
I have logic pro 9 (or "logic studio" whatever it is called) bought years ago for about 500$. It contains a lot of things, 10 dvd full of loops and other staff. Logic app is just Logic, that is why it costs only 200$. It is like "ableton live" and "ableton live suite"... two different things, two different prices. You can of course buy the first and add extra staff later... but you have to pay that.

The mainstage2 is 30usd more.
I have the Logic pro studio8 disks, and it looks like everything is there on the app store, except the mainstage2 and some loops.
The dl version does come with 15,000 loops, and all the effects and sound plugins. Maybe there's a full comparison somewhere.

Here this explains it. It lacks 3 apps.

i don't care about comparisons... maybe they lowered the price say 100$, but what I mean is: for 200$ you have logic, that is different from "logic packet" dvd box (now discontinued, i guess), which was about 500$. You talk like the logic app (200$) is like the old logic studio box (500$). That is misleading, IMO. But I could be wrong, maybe in US you get all the staff contained in the box downloading it from appstore for only 200$?... Not here, sorry. Some friends of mine downloaded the logic "app" and got "only" Logic... They were angry because they believed it was the same old logic studio (500$) now sold for 200$. Clear now?

This is right here.

You were exaggerating, what is not included. So I care, maybe you don't, but lets correct that error in your judgment.
It is the for all practical purposes the same product.
It does have 15,000 loops. It has everything except 2 apps, and one discontinued app. Note, they are separate apart from the daw itself, applications.

mhh... so i was CORRECT, not uncorrect as you stated before, calling me "a troll": Logic 200$ is what once was "dvd1" without all the other 9 dvds.

No, you were mostly wrong.

The initial $200 download from the App Store is "Logic Studio DVD 1". This includes Logic + the plugins, and very little content.

There is a separate (and free) in-app download that includes 19 GB of loops, samples and other content. This is downloaded from within Logic, once it's installed. You friends have access to this content - I don't believe Apple are restricting menu items in Logic based on region or country.

This in-app download is the same content that would have been installed from the 6 or so DVD's that used to come in a box, there is just a bit less of it - presumably because Apple got rid of some stuff that wasn't very popular.

Peace,
Andy.

19 gb is not 50 gb (dvd content). I understand "getting rid" of 2,3 gb, but... 31?! :D Lot of crap, then haha
I don't understand why some people call some others "troll" when just say the truth: logic studio was DIFFERENT from logic app and for 500$ you got at least 30gb sound material more, three extra applications etc. So, I was neither "a troll" nor mostly wrong. I was just mostly right:

LOGIC APP (200$) : logic + optional free 19 gb loops (downloadble)

LOGIC STUDIO (500$):
Logic Pro
Soundtrack Pro
Mainstage
Compressor
Waveburner
jampack 1
jampack 2
jampack 3
jampack 4
jampack 5
jampack 6
jampack world
demo projects
garageband instruments
convolution reverbs

In italy A is still different from B, sorry

basically Logic Studio contains everything? When you purchase this...do send it in a box and you then install?
