Sometimes I wish I liked beer at all. This forum implies that beer solves problems like giving a care about anything.

Runs without problems. There has nothing changed which could break some audio/plug-in compatibility. Something was changed for better energy efficiency, so people expect a very bad latency. But this seems not to be true (if we believe the Cakewalk tests).
Cannot see a problem or a show stopper to use Win8. Upgrade is cheap and it's seems it can be updated directly from a running Win 7. This would for me the most important thing to wait or not.

I'll be on Windows 7 for a long time. Everything is working fine so no way would I mess with that.

maybe it is just me, but since jaguar (or was it puma? I don't remember... now i am on snow lion) i have never had any issue at all. maybe you mean software developers not ready, but that is not an OS problem, it is just software not ready. Regarding windows 7, it is almost more stable than osx.

Never jump on a new os untill the ones who did jump have taken care of forcing the company to re-code the bugs.
Win7 64bit works ok, so why change? To sponsor M$?
Got me! I am not used to buying a pre-installed pc. I always choose every component myself and assemble and tweak the new machine. So I forgot that indeed many new comps will come with 8 in the near future.
You are right there!

It's going to take something rather special to make me move to W8 or any other OS than W7 tbh.
W7 has been excellent, W8 doesn't offer anything worthwhile as far as I can see.

I upgraded an image of a Windows 7 saystem to the preview of Windows 8, and apart some drivers that had to be replaced, everything is working fine. So, yes, I think we can be confident that upgrade from Windows 7 will not only be possible, it wilçl work like a charm.4damind wrote:Runs without problems. Windows 8 launches Metro. Metro has one shortcut called "desktop". You hit desktop, and you will be in an environment that's almost the same as the current Windows 7 desktop. Everything is there, working as usual. What's going to happen to all of our plugins when Windows 8 launches ?

Actually it is kind of funny here..at work we use a combination of Vista and XP...at home it is vista and W7...

I gotta say, XP is pretty ugly and clumsy. There were minor improvements in those areas in Vista that I like and prefer to have available (not the stupid widget bar crap).
Then again, XP was only a minor improvement on the clumsy ugliness of Windows 2000, which was only a very slight improvement over Windows NT 4, which was only...

it's interesting to see how the industry is leading the people.
if win 8 would have midi right now people would be much more interested.
i don't think they just did forget it.
refs is replacing the ntfs filesystem, wait some years and the vst dll is only supported using buggy emulation software introducing a huge latency.
of course the switch will take some years and bundled with tragedy you will reading threads like "why did i sell my hardware?".
