I did read that I needed STfree to run the free included sampletron sounds with, but the IK authorize app is broken for that one product, but not the sampletron plugin itself. It's very frustrating, as I still have no idea why even the "offline authorize" option, asks me to install the authorize tool, and still says it's outdated after installing it on my pc. Then it want's me to do it all over again. This kind of cr protection I don't mind, if it works.
Guess I'll try their support now.
I experienced the same thing. It seems that ST Free automatically installs the IK Authorizing app version 1.0.6, which is 'old'.

You have to go to the IK website and download version 1.0.7 separately, install it, and then it worked for me.

That's odd, because I did just that, but it didn't work for me.
It was going back and forth from 1.06 to 1.07. I could not get past the update auth tool point, no matter which version was installed.

It iIS totally confusing and this sort of thing puts people off, I'm sure. But they are there, they do work, and they sound great!
Many thanks for the explanation (also to Numanoid) - I managed to find it and am downloading now - three different files, in fact.

Best,

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

IIRC, I downloaded v. 1.0.7 while the 1.0.6 version installed by ST Free was still open. Then I quit Authorization Manager and reopened it (now v. 1.0.7).

As soon as you try to install ST Free, it apparently overwrites whatever AM version automatically, without checking if it's a more recent version. Kind of dumb, if you ask me… ;-)

After spending ages working out where to put what files etc and registering ST3 free 2.5 for the sounds which came with esoundz deal for sampletron! Also registering sampletron blah blah blah now it's asking me to register again like above post! On top of all this i find myself sqinting at these GUI's looking for pref tabs etc jeez could they not make it any harder to see! Good price though....

I missed the first paragraph in the instructions so I just started the authorization manager I had installed already. It prompted me to download the latest version(1.0.6). I clicked OK, installed it and when I started it up it told me that I had to update it to an even newer version(1.0.7). It's strange that the manager didn't update to the very latest release from the beginning :? . Well, when that was done all went smooth and I really like the tron samples. Actually, this is the first time ever I have bought a sample pack. Too bad I missed the Esoundz ad but I still think it's a good deal :)

Someone earlier in this(?) thread mentioned that ST was crashing Ableton Live - I can now confirm this. I just render the track and moved on.

WOW- I was just surfing presets in SampleTron and suddenly I got some crackling and then the VSTi (or Ableton Live 8.3.3) went bonkers and blasted me with tons of high volume white noise! WTF!

Has anyone else experienced this? :x

Ableton and SampleTron don't go well together unfortunately, have a look in this previous thread for info about how to solve the problem

OMG - thanks for the info Numanoid! I had already set that up but wasn't aware that it solved that severe of a problem. The thread I got that from involved complaints about Trons small UI and difficult color scheme. I'll go back to SampleTank.

Or you could maybe try to load SampleTron in a different DAW and use ReWire to input that into Ableton?

I don't know if the guys in the other thread have tried that?

Sampletank was working fine until I tried to delete the plug while it was playing... wham... major noise blast. I think the problem is with Abletons inability to deal with huge CPU spike. I noticed this happening on the CPU meter on Tracktion. Thanks again for your help!

I'd just use it in ST Free, if I were you. More flexible, and you even get access to CSR Reverb as an effect, which I don't believe you get in the older Sampletron engine. The older engines don't seem to really be supported by IK anymore.

I was about to post this very question. do I need to still have sampletron installed, or can I uninstall and just load the samples into ST? and will the combis from esoundz still work? thanks.

I believe that is a yes. You just need to put the combis in the ST directory and make sure it can see the samples. I don't think you need SampleTron installed at all.
