I just wanted to humbly point out that the expression controller responds to breath control CC2 and not expression CC11
Thank you for making the midiprogram change and bank change work as expected!!! Brilliant! ♥

Yes Expression in Oxium is the sum of : Mono and Polyphonic Aftertouch AND Breath Controler.
This is for those who use breath controlers, either with dedicated controlers like Akai one, or the standard breath controler from Yamaha. This way they dont have to reprogram each patch to get the Aftertouch control expression possibilities.
By assigning final gain to breath controller on brass patches for example, you can get very expressive instruments. For those who have an expression pedal with their Keyboard or midi guitar controler ( ie Midi CC4) it might be a good idea to map it thru your daw to the cc2 ( Breath Controler ) : You'll get some crazy results.
Midi PG and bank change are very usefull if you want to use less Oxium instances in a single project, and especially in live situations, or with complex studio works.
There are other exciting features planned for Oxium next updates.

I really like that you've added a secondary controller in the form of expression in the UI, gives patches an extra dimension from just using modwheel.
I'd love to see someone play oxium with a flute

Another feature is the divided Pitch Bend + and Pitch Bend - controler : Not only doest it allow people to have different semitones intervals pro PB up and Down, but you can also adress ANY modulation target with the Pitch Bend controler.Crackbaby wrote:More features..?! I used this in the silver box sequence preset : Some envelope parameters are assigned to pb+ and pb- and you can get grooving sequences very easily.
Well all these features are aimed to give Oxium the best possible real time controls, for maximum fun when tweaking parts in real time, be it live or in your daw.

For those who are so deeply interested in my humble person and think I'm only the spokesman, and its not precisely a compliment in their mouth, I'd suggest they put their glasses on and read the credits for Oxium or Le Masque :Delay: amonjgst other things

i used the term 'spokesman' in the other thread, but i didn't say 'only'. in contrary, i had just positive things to say about you and your work. i don't know, what is written in the credits, but i'd have no probs to accept it.Lotuzia wrote:For those who are so deeply interested in my humble person and think I'm only the spokesman, and its not precisely a compliment in their mouth, I'd suggest they put their glasses on and read the credits for Oxium or Le Masque :Delay: amonjgst other things

Nice picture you painted there ttoz! It gave me flashbacks of my Cs1x days when i was young!
Back in those days you wouldn't wake up with QWERTY on your forehead but dots from knobs
...
About the pitch wheel.. That's genious! For most (i guess?) the pitch wheel is left unused as not all genres rely on using pitch wheel live. I always thought it was a thing for Roland salesmen to demonstrate synths at NAMM

Thanks a lot Theottoz wrote:i finally demoed this extensively in live, i am running into the 16 voice limitation very easily when using some of the unison pads, i mean some of them are only "5.5 playable voices" with three unison, and it's just silly to have such a strong limitation.. 32 should be optional for people whose machines can handle it. Even my mac laptop is around 40% on the very highest worst patch using 16 voices so i could on most patches comfortably use 32.
That said i got a bit emotional using it as it reminded me of some of my hardware days.. now i hope you don't get offended by this but the pads reminded me specifically of my yamaha an1x, which i used extensively every day.
it was a very happy time of my life, where i had not fully lost my hearing in the right ear, only a bit of it, and i was very healthy, young, and used to live and breathe composing. I had the spare bedroom fully soundproofed with lead lined walls, double glazed glass and a portable vocal booth and appropriate treatment for reflections.. it was really like walking into a tiny pro studio in a townhouse
Anyway the pads of oxium have that sound to me, i used to write so much music Laurent that i often fell asleep on the floor in that room, i could not make, i am not joking, the 5 feet or so walk to my bedroom i would exhaust myself to such a degree
Anyway it was just a nice memory for me and would be happy to eventually see this in reason, i'd definitely buy it without hesitation. In fact, i LOVE synthix sound but it was very complicated for me with it's layers and the way polyphony worked, so i still think Poly KB II is my overall favorite sound wise, it's just so organic, but oxium is my number 2, actually probably tied equal first place with poly KB in an overall rating scheme as my favorite xils products.
The pad in question was "superstring"i love those deceptively simple but lush kind of sounds. The yamaha had fantastic factory presets also, oxium really reminds me of it.. that said, wasn't the an1x modeled after the jupiter sound??
PS Orange is my favorite colour in the world followed closely by violet, and yet it was a tad strong but i got used to it after 10 minutes, and am ok with it now. The grey does not work in this synth at all, sorry to say. Everything seems to just get completely 'lost"
this is my first real testing and opinion of oxium.. i am known as a preset user, but as long as i can control adsr of filter and amp, effects sections, and arps and sequencer sections i am happy, and this was all fairly intuitive to me with this one and i adjusted the sound of the superstrings quite alot with some nice tweaks:)
My verdict is, and i wonder has anyone else said this yet? well i already had that vibe from the an1x as i said but oxium seems to have that ability to do alot of bread and butter sounds that are necessary for composition, especially pads, kind of like albino but on "steroids".. the comparison to albino is that albino sounds are easy to use and compose with, and this is the sense i get from oxium, but it's alot richer.. I hope the synth gets the sales it deserves and some preset designers really give it the sort of attention that diva etc has had so we can get an amazing variety of presets, that would be terrific. Lastly, i genuinely would find it perplexing how anyone could think it sounds anything other than good. !
Yes there will be more soundbanks in the future, and I know that two independant companies at least will make presets for Oxium.
The factory library presets are also imho very expressive, almost all of them have already set modulations for Mod Wheel, Aftertouch poly+mono, breath controler, and Pitch Bend + and Pitch bend - at least.
One thing I wondered for Reason, Theo : It is not possible to rewire a "standard" daw into it, like Cubase, to get the best of both worlds ?
I remember I used to rewire FL 7 in Cubase, and well it seemed to work OK as far as I can tell.

Read an article from a music magazine writer visiting the developers at Yamaha at the time of the release of the AN1X, and he reported they had a Prophet 5 on their desk where they compared sounds with.ttoz wrote:.. that said, wasn't the an1x modeled after the jupiter sound??
Still keep a Yamaha host with a PLG150-AN expansion card even though it only has half the voices of the AN1X.
