that is a great track man. so quirky and catchy. is that done on werkbench?DrApostropheX wrote:Hooray! I can't wait for the new update! Werkbench is definitely the most organic and inspiring sampler I've ever used. It puts the "fun" back in.. uh... fun-damental harmonic frequency, I guess.

Thanks! For the most part: all of the audio was sampled in Werkbench using the iPad's microphone. Then I rearranged the steps and sequenced a bunch of loops in Werkbench. I brought those loops into Auria (actually I brought them into Meteor and arranged them there, as I was doing that before I got Auria, but once I got Auria, I exported each individual track from Meteor without effects and brought them into Auria, but arranging in Meteor and Auria is no different) and added effects in Auria: a little slapback delay, some convolution reverb, and some basic EQ and compression. But every sound you hear was recorded and sequenced into a loop in Werkbench. I'm really excited about the new features (per step panning! increased polyphony!).michael2 wrote:that is a great track man. so quirky and catchy. is that done on werkbench?

cool, thanks for the breakdown. I work in Logic, but was planning on doing the same thing you describe. I just downloaded the app. can't wait to play with this thing tomorrow.DrApostropheX wrote:Thanks! For the most part: all of the audio was sampled in Werkbench using the iPad's microphone. I kept looking for the high pass filter and panning options cause I kept seeing them in videos, haha. Nice app, i hesitated when it first came out, but am really enjoying it. I would really like to see envelope per step, although I don't know if this would be feasible. Looking forward to the update!

hmmm, just checked this out on my iPod .... wow, great and fun
Somethings I would like to see:
- audiobus or audio copy to bring audio to other apps
- fx send level per sound/step
best

Both versions are equipped with AudioCopy. After you finish recording with 'export', you will be presented with the options to copy, export to iTunes sharing, or send an email.
EFX per step is a good idea.
You can expect lots of updates to both the iPhone and iPad versions in the future. The iPad version will definitely continue to be our flagship because the hardware has so much more muscle.
The next iPad update will have some awesome new stuff largely based on feedback from KVR and others:
-Overdub and mix modes for sampling and copying (now available in the phone version)
-Chaining patterns (!)
-Odd step lengths (1 - 16 steps for each pattern, independent lengths for each side).
-AudioBus
-Background mode
-A more solid MIDI sync (right now it can get confused if the clock hiccups).
All of this stuff has been implemented. Now it's just a matter of testing and tweaking.
Realistically I expect it to come out early in the New Year. The app store submission dept closes for a week around Christmas so submissions have to be cleared by next Friday (i.e. submitted now)... not gonna happen for this update.
I'm really happy that people are enjoying and using WerkBench! Developing musical instruments has been a long-term life goal/dream. It feels great to be doing it even on a small scale. Please do help spread the word to people who might love this.
Happy holidays!
Cheers,

Hello greything,
so, now I have the iPad and the iPhone version ... can I exchange recorded sounds or loops ( not exported audio) between them? if now, -> feature request.
well, my iPod 5 seems to be as fast as my iPad2 .... of course iPad has a bigger screen and newer iPads are powerful ...
ipod ist just more portable and handy on the go.
thanks,
best,
Steff

Well, I find the UI design of version 2 horrible ... to say the least. Version 1 was great and fun to use. Version 2 is not a pleasure to look at and thus to use.greything wrote:Werkbench on sale this weekend ... and check out the new jam! 2.1 is close to shipping. Soon. soon.
any change of a change there?
