I'm surprised to see no one here is talking about Cassini. This is right up your alley. Lots of synthy goodness and it really takes advantage of the extra screen real estate on the iPad.

I have Cassini for iPod Touch and use it on my iPad (x2). It does have some good sound possibilities though I haven't delved very deep into programming it.
I haven't read any mention of advantages the iPad version has over the older version besides real estate. Has anything new been included in this version?

The original has separate LFO step sequencing for oscillators, filters, amp, etc.
I just viewed Tim's demo video (thanks BTW) and I may have missed something but didn't see anything new. I'm not complaining. Its just that I don't want to make a duplicate purchase.

I don't have the iPod version, so I can't say for sure, but I'm virtually certain the only thing added to the iPad is a new layout to fit more stuff on the larger screen. This alone is greatly appreciated; I hate 2Xing apps! Even good iPhone apps in 2X mode feel cumbersome and ruinous to workflow.

I'd agree, but CASSINI for iPhone is one app that does work great on 2X. I've been using it on iPad for a while. I'm not saying that I wouldn't buy the iPad version though. It does have a few more features (not many but some) and less pages to click through.

It's worth the $3 to upgrade to the iPad version. The whole thing feels a lot less claustrophic and more accessible with a much better workflow. And the Sunsine presets work with both versions -- hooray!

I think this synth is great, with some really cool innovative new features like a step sequencer in the LFOs...
Having said that, there is one thing that really bothers me about it - the knobs and the stepping. I don't understand why the knobs can't have more positions. It seems like every knob only has about 12 positions, and the stepping is terrible. Try turning up the filter resonance a bit and then cranking the cutoff on a low pass filter... the stepping is atrocious. I expect at least somewhat smooth knobs on a soft synth.
Also, would it kill you to show me how many cents I'm detuning an oscillator? Sunrizer still has the best knobs I've seen in a soft synth - the most usable anyway. At least -127 to +127 for values and you can actually see how many cents you're detuning your oscillators.
Just take the innovative features of Cassini and add them to Sunrizer and I would have my perfect synth.
