Phonics Sync(loop cutter&BPMcalculator)

Hey peeps,
I thought I'd up one project I have been working on for a while.

It's for cutting loops with sound start and end points.
A metronome is played on beat divisions of the selection.
You can hear when your loop is going to fit into your music timing-wise.



Kenny Buck did the graphics- I think it looks sweet.
It now also shows what BPM the loop is at. The divisor is set by the grid division.
You can record with it-but it only records for 10mins max, I have fixed the memory leaks in previous versions.
Let me know what features you need/if it's working for you.

Nicely done! However the only way to trigger the sample is to use the midi controller and it seems to steal the midi input. Anyway to just use the vst's midi input instead?

Hey again,
I have updated the link with some bugfixes,
it's still not perfect-
but it's better I think.
I have now wired the MIDI input,
so you can route MIDI to it within ur DAW without virtual cables.
Also has 'on host play' option,
for if you have a track length .wav file.
I can't believe it--

Can make a VSTi, for those who don't want to route a MIDI generator, but recording will be disabled.
btw, I think the default is now set to record,
and u don't have to 'reset', before recording works

I guess record on host play would be handy too.
Thanks for the suggestion,
I intend to work on a dedicated sampler instrument,
but that function is certainly nice in this one too.
I gotta add a volume envelope for the sample,
so it doesn't click,
we can play it with MIDI without any pops.
Also it would negate the need for adding fades with a more advanced editor.

I'm kind of a sucker for anything sampler related. I will keep an eye on your development.

What kind of sampler do you intend to do? I like traditional samplers but what is interesting are samplers geared towards the mangling side. By that I mean something like tobybear helios, crossfadeloop synth,ect.

Hmm, the slicing stuff would be new for me-
but I imagine the sampler will be a reworking of my old one Tampler,
which has 2 samplers that r FMed.
I've just started playing with granular,
so should be able to resample so that you can pitch shift without changing length of sounds.
There is 1000 samples delay coz of resampling the grain at that length.
The FM absolutely destroys the sounds,
but hopefully I can do it a way that sounds cool.
I'll stick RM/AM in there too.
It probably won't be soon, I'll send u a pm when I have something

Ok, the one on your website is an older version.
I can see myself using this, but I think there is a bug with loop start point, it always starts playin with the first measure, no matter where I set the starting loop point...end point works(in the sense that if I bring it closer to first loop point, the loop gets shorter).
Maybe I'm missing something, but it would be nice to pitch the sample directly in the plugin window, just to have a knob (now I have to use midi notes to play it at higher/lower pitch)

Hey,
I just tried to use this,
and couldn't get it to record twice.
So it's fixed now.

I also noticed that start point issue.
The logic is really intricate,
I will try and fix it,
but for now, just use right click to set the start point.

I can include a pitch control,
but I would like to do time-stretch too.
I think I will make an update that includes both,
if I can license an algo from Tekky synths.
