the presets are :
unfortunately the drums are not oxium but with some time it can be made easily

I would assume they are. At least the kickdrum because i can make a similar one with my Oxium
As you know i "Mux" Oxium (and other synths naturally) and i got one where all ranges for the knobs are set perfect for a kick
So if totally uninspired i could go knobtweak-o-frenzy and still end up with something, hopefully, descent

Let's discuss Le Masque in Oxium.
Maybe the best way to make people understand what is unique in it is to compare it with commonly found existing modulators.
Le Masque compared to a StepSequencer :
In its most simple use, Le Masque can mimic the behaviour of a stepsequencer, howerer :
More than all the above the concept from Le Masque from the beginning is that the masks ( ie steps in this case) can have ANY lenght, and that you can also have empty zones ( the masks dont have to be continuous )
Le Masque Locators can be quantized, or not.
This means that you have total freedom and control to built any rythm pattenrs very easily.
Example : Say you want to make some traditional funky rythmic modulations based on the dooted 8th note figure ? Just make a funky lego and freely combine 8th and 16th note long masks.
Vertical Quantize
The vertical quantize option can be usefull for many things, but its the key feature if you want to make tonal sequences with Oxium. Just assign one of the levels to the Global Pitch parameter in the Mod Matrix and Le Masque will give you a +-1 octave ambitus to build your sequences. As the lenght of the Masks is free, you can combine staccatos with very long notes. Here again, total freedom.
There are a lot of unique things in Le Masque, but this should hopefully give a first idea of how powerfull it can be.

This filter is the best I have seen implemented in a synth for a long time, spare me the crap but I would take this over Diva any day of the week, same sound quality, the fatness of the oscillators when you apply them together and the ease of use with half processor load keeps me drooling over it in a very good way. It is geared towards the very synthetic electronic sounds but the snappy envelopes and searing filters, especially combined through the vowel filter makes noises and sounds I Adore. The Arp could have had a few more presets but there is always the le masque. I swear who developed this synth obviously was thinking of the same kind of lay out that I was. I used to have them as well but had to give them up when we moved up here several years ago...
I, too, have demoed this and am excited by the sheer sonic mayhem that I can haz with this...

Some observations:
Sweeping filter cut off at self resonance with the mod wheel is noticeably steppy.
Envelope attack is soft - nowhere near as snappy as the competition.
Rather than gradually fading out, envelope release fades so far then suddenly drops to silence.
No quick velocity to envelope amount routing in the envelope section (requires manually configuring via the modulation page).
Modwheel to Filter CutOff limited to 48:00 semitones.
Similarly, with CutOff at 0 setting Filter ADSR Amount to 100 doesn't fully open the filter.
The transition between formants in the vowel filter is abrupt, with large gaps in between the transitions during which sweeping the knob has no effect.

You can get all sorts of snappy sounds. Besides that the ev times can be given in mms. Its very easy to get even some clicky sounds with the attack.hakey wrote:Some observations:

EDIT: With CutOff at 0, setting Filter ADSR Amount to 100 doesn't open the filter fully.
You can double modulations if its not enough in the mod matrix or in harwired easy modulations slots.
Not steppy on my system.
The transitions are abrupt in the wowel filter thats true.
The central modulation page is required for some tasks, and a lot of hardwired modulations can be achieved on the main panels as well. Then a lot of modulations can be achieved in Oxium that just can't be done in any other synth as well. See my post about La Masque if you are interested in this.
For the velocity, you have two semi harwired slots. Oxium has a HUGE dynamic range, when applied to VCA for example, for a very detailed and expressive keyboard playing experience.
Other interesting things you can modulate : Enveloppes segments. Not all synths can do this. Or have an arpeggiator. Or are able to make some ubersophisticated sequences. Etc etc etc .... the list is long
Regarding the release, CoolColJ, noticed that the release time is less long than its Jupiter 8, and the fall is more abrupt. He says that its the same in other soft synths claiming they can emulate a JP8. Well it seems Oxium can approach a JP8 very closely, though it was not primarily designed to do so, but that the release times in soft synths could be longer, and/or more detailed. I just noticed that on my VP 330, release times are just HUGE
