Yes, and Reaktor is nowhere to be found. Which makes sense, it's not really a "synth."

OT: Ghetto pls PM

Wow, CM and I have pretty similar taste in synths. The only one I haven't owned there is SynthMaster, and I may some day. No longer have sylenth1 and DCAM though. However I only sold sylenth1 because I'm convinced it's dead. Who leaves a synth in "beta" for over two years? To me that just shows a complete lack of care/respect for your customers.

Props for synthmaster making the list, but FM8 ?

That's got to be the surge in it's popularity since Skrillex said he made all his growls with it.

It's still a good synth though.
Don't trust those with words of weakness, they are the most aggressive

I guess all of the music out there with Sylenth in it must be an aberration? It's just crazy that a synth that seems to be letting you down has been in more released music than any of us could track down or name in a lifetime.

Yeah, producing a plugin that is awesome is a terrible letdown

10 alchemy
9 fm8
8 diva
7 impOSCar2
6 zebra
5 omnisphere
4 dcam: synth squad
3 synthmaster
2 sylenth1
1 massive

my OWN list is pretty different. (and MY list is of course more 'correct')

now, let the ranting and raving begin... :D
Hard to disagree with the bulk of this list. I'd really like to buy omnisphere. Never tried synthmaster or impOSCar2. I'm happy to own the rest and love them :)

No quite the opposite. I bought it because it sounds great and I'm very aware that it's used all the time for good music. However I don't have confidence that it will be updated and move to 64 bit mac etc. So as much as I enjoyed it, I thought I'd stick with stuff that seems to have a future. There are many great plug-in synths to choose from, I don't need any one particular one so if a developer can't even be bothered to slap a final release together for a beta that's been over 2 years, I might as well go with the others. Just my opinion, use whatever you enjoy.

i use sylenth1, and am ALL OVER THE PLACE begging lennard for a 64bit mac AU. but i have a huge soundbank library for it, and love it, so i continue to use it. IF S1 is someday obsolete, (for instance, the next version of logic has no 32bit bridge), well, LOL...will cross that bridge when i come to it.

it's too good not to use. a lot...

This is why I don't buy CM any more. I mean how can FM8 beat Alchemy? It's preposterous! And Sylenth at number 2 is a joke. CM are boring middle of the road crowd pleasers. They're like the Women's Own of music production.

It's on my list. I think that it might be the best general purpose 6op FM synth. Can you think of a better one that's in VST form?

Of course, you do realize that it's something of a popularity contest as well?

Well I prefer FM8 over Sylenth any day - never understood its popularity tbh - I tried it once and was bored by it pretty quickly. Seems the vote is heavily dominated by the dubstep/dance crowd.

That might be it, and Sytrus gets overlooked here, as always. IMHO it beats FM8 in every way except for internal FX, but who really needs those that much?

FM8 is much more easily edited though, Sytrus has a tiny multi page gui and is very frustrating to work with. Also FM8 has the morphpad which is a great performance feature.

FM8 is more interesting than Sylenth but I don't see how it can beat Alchemy. You're right about them pandering to the dance crowd but the less experimental end of that wide genre unfortunately. :(

quite stupid classification.
