And why not... they have disposable income.quantum7 wrote: It looks lie CM is catering to the teenage bedroom Dubstep composer crowd.
Aalto
Absynth
Alchemy
Iris
Metasynth
Razor
Synthmaster 2.5
Zebra 2.5
plus Kontakt 5 and M-Audio Venom
That's my top ten in no specific order.

I think massive and fm8 should be on that list and I don't do bedroom/dubstep/etc/ as was mentioned
I sold fm8 once and have always regretted it, so very happy to have it back with komplete

It was based on votes. CM has had a site up for about 3 months for synth voting. I actually voted on it. Don't remember what I picked . . .myrna wrote:It is not serious, it is not even based on selling data or similar quantifications. You cannot classify something basing your judgement on taste. I remember another stupid "best daw" classification made by musicradar... at least that one, even if stupid, too, was based on fanboys votes... infact FL studio was nr.1aciddose wrote:as soon as you use something like "Best" as a qualifier, you're screwed as far as objectivity.
so take it as it is.
The list is about accurate given the popularity of certain synths and cross genre of others. The U-he stuff has actually fallen out of popularity a little bit over the past couple of years, so Zebra and Diva being low on the list and the synths in the top 5 did not surprise me one bit.

I agree, and Sylenth1 too. They're in that set of synths that I try not to use in a project and keep comming back to it. All 3 just work in a mix.hibidy wrote:I think massive and fm8 should be on that list and I don't do bedroom/dubstep/etc/ as was mentioned

The synth that I actually always have problems working in a mix is Zebra. To me it just does not cut through. But I really like ACE though.

CM cater to their main customer, the EDM bedroom producer. So that's why massive and sylenth reach the top spot. And believe me, none beat massive for the harsh digital tone for today production.

Hmmm... you sure? - From July 2011 to July 2012 we sold as many licenses as in the years 2002 to 2009 altogether. Diva came out only recently, and it's one of the most talked about synth in the world, apart from - as I understand - the Dubstep scene, which is massive, admittedlybysbox1 wrote:The U-he stuff has actually fallen out of popularity a little bit over the past couple of years, so Zebra and Diva being low on the list and the synths in the top 5 did not surprise me one bit.
I agree about Zebra in context of that list, it had fallen out of the loop a bit. But then we released The Dark Zebra, which has actually topped Diva, saleswise
If Facebook is an indicator, our page has more Likes than any other softsynth brand I've seen there. Only hardware companies that also make softsynths are more popular on Facebook.
Now... if you also count the top freeware synths in the same magazine issue, u-he has the most synths in it. We're the only company that got 4 awards. That's the benefit of doing some freeware synths
Hehe, forgive my enthusiasm, but this statement simply needed to be pwnd

Massive isn't too bad but it isn't all that inspirational either. Everywhere you look there are preset banks for both Massive and Sylenth on nearly all the sites selling samples. Personally I find Massive dull to work with because it looks ugly and nearly all the banks available for it sound similar. It's been flogged to death.
I choose a Massive preset, press a key and hear every tarnce/dubstep cliché know to humanity. It's not the synths fault, it's what's been done with it in the name of music that brings on the gag reflex. Sylenth and Massive are like being waterboarded in the name of Western mediocrity. They want to assimilate us.
Long live the obscure synth Jihad!

Take the FX off Massive and she doesn't sound so massive at all...
Then you can hear what's REALLY going on inside that sound engine...
But the GUI looks very sexy - in true NI style....
I prefer woman who look great with no makeup at all ...
The FX in Massive are just a mask to hide the imperfections

seems like i am the only one not liking sylenth1 much (find the internal effects really weak sounding).
the synths i am using most are: massive, nexus, dcam, Dune. Spicing it up with twin2, cyclop, electrax, rapture.

Wow, interesting list... one of those devs is constantly accused of abandoning his synth and the other dev is known to move at a glacial pace... the Tassman 5 Suggestions thread which AAS started in their forum in 2005!
You really should stop embarrassing yourself like this, or at least start your own Apple rant topic and stop ruining threads that have nothing to do with this.myrna wrote:there is no market for mac anymore
