Mmmh... I have tried it, and i must say i am still a bit confused : this plugin seems awesome, but it is ver un-intuitive (at least to me) :
- I didn't managed to set the routing properly in Live, so i had to try in Reaper ;
- The GUI is quite unusual for a vocoder, as well as the many parameters ;
- The Band Matrix seems great, but i was dummily drawing stuff without knowing really what i was doing, and when i hit the "?", it only tells me about presets, and not what the matrix is doing.. !?
- The band eq is great, but I wish i could have some kind of spectrum display of what's coming in/out for quicker adjustment (you're the master of spectrum display ! so please give this vocoder some spectrum love)
- I still miss pre-input overdrive and post-output chorus
- I can't open the PDF manual from the GUI, and when i had to browse my plugin folder for the PDF manual, it doesn't really tell me what i want to know (for instance : how to route it in my DAW ? In Live, i don't know how to make a 4 channel ready track, and in Reaper, i still have some dry sond passing through...) ?!
Well, i feel really dumb, while i have quite some experience with vocoders, but here there are so many features (and no hierarchy between them) that i really don't know where to start...
Sorry, this seems a bit like a rant, but i really would like to love this plugin, but so far it mostly confuses me...
[edit : my bad about the routing : i had made a mistake. But still, i find the hierarchy-less GUI a bit confusing and the plugin not very intuitive. A deeper try made me reach some rather intelligible results, I'll continue investigating !]

I'm a bit confused about the GUI, too...or even quite overwhelmed...
Does anyone have some vocal samples (or other stuff) made with MeldaVocoder that show what kind of sound is possible? Because I don't have the time to test it, currently.

Can i make a couple feature requests ?
I wish i could have :
- carrier & modulator input vumeters + output vumeter ;
- a spectrum display ;
- input overdrive ;
- chorus on the output (i know, i already asked for that
);
So far, it sounds ok, i have some nice surprises for "classic" vocoder sound, but as Tricky Loops said (better than me), i am a bit overwhelmed, so the only way i get into it is by trial & error (which sometimes is my modus operandi, but not here).

Well, vocoders were never that simple, but actually this one has just a few important parameters on the main screen. Anyway it will take time to master itsinkmusic wrote:Mmmh... Regarding the requests: preinput overdrive could work, but post-output chorus makes no sense as you can just add chorus. And spectrum display, sorry, but rather no here, mostly like technical difficulties, also it couldn't really work, because you can make the bands occupy completely different frequencies (using the graphs), so that the graph actually wouldn't match the spectrum analyzer at all.

Good idea!
- a spectrum display ;
No, sorry, explained above.
- Input overdrive
Ok!
- Output chorus
Sorry, but makes no sense to me. It's always better to use a dedicated chorus.

Could i also suggest (along with the input overdrive) a simple (one knob ?) compressor/limiter beacuse dealing with proper volume levels can be the trickiest thing when playing with a vocoder ?
