Thats the version i finally got fed up with and switched to REAPER.
It has gone to Cubase 6 now.

It's like saying you won't use Windows 7 because you had issues with Windows 2.0, which doesn't even mean that Windows 2.0 wasn't stable in general.

Their incompetence in the past resulted in them losing me as a customer and thats it.
I don't care about Cubase version 6 because i am 99% satisfied with REAPER.

Usually too many edits will tend to crash Cubase as well as corrupt ... in Win7) then the project will likely be corrupted next time I try to load it.

Now if CUBASE would be as skinable as Reaper, I'd totally get one of those skins. But Steinberg won't offer that.

Now if the WT skin would be out for Reaper, I might take another closer look. But I'm so used to Cubase (running rock solid) and Reaper still shows way too many bugs on VST/VSTi. Though it's the only cross-platform host I'd use to settle in with engineering/musician fellows for collaboration stuff.

I'd have to learn another host all over again. And keeping up to date with Cubase (I only know 60% of the features blind! dropping by 10% every new major update), ProTools and Logic is already a PITA.

Are you serious? There will always be users that have problems with their host. That doesn't necessarily mean that it's unstable in general.

Anyway, if you're happy with Reaper that's all there is to it. It's just a little silly to bash on a program which you haven't followed for a decade or so.

Actually i did.
I also read that thread on Cockos forum that comes as the first result and i judged it irrelevant (read it carefully to see why).
Oh and that post was in response to you insinuating that version 6 doesn't corrupt projects anymore which apparently is not true.

I didn't insinuate that because you didn't mention that problem in the first place. You only said that SX2 and SX3 were unstable. You should reread these last posts, in chronological order.

Why is it a contradiction? There are bugs in every program and some users are unlucky and stumble upon them. It's only natural that these users will post about them trying to find a solution. On the other hand there will be maybe thousands of satisfied users that don't feel the need to post about how pleased they are by their program.

Just show me one bug-free host.

Back to the topic, the RADO theme is quite nice. It doesn't look much like Cubase but who cares? It makes Reaper a little easier to look at.

No, coitus interruptus is like having your DAW crash half way through. Saying that your host don't crash and then admitting that it does, in the same paragraph, is a bit like Fanboism.

The thing is, history goes back a long way with Cubase. What boggles belief is that every time, for at least a decade and a half, that Steinberg dumps a steaming one on the Cubase community, exactly the same stream of denial gets emitted by people desperate to avoid buyer's remorse. Been there, done that, I totally understand how you feel. But ranting at however loud a volume you choose to use just isn't going to make the real world different.

I used to enjoy riling the Cuboys. I just don't care anymore. Partly because Steinberg have mitigated somewhat the most egregious aspects of their offering to the market, but mostly because I've got to the point where I think people who get themselves into this hole, with all the evidence available to persuade them not to, deserve what they get.

Actually that's true. For me it's the real thing. Hardware synths. I just don't need to spend my days climbing up the greasy pole of thinking that however much money I spend on plugs, I'm going to be as good as the pros. It just doesn't happen and it, almost, never has. Think about it: just how many people are out there making their own music, with really neat gear, and just how many ever pay to own it? We had some good machines. But they don't work no more.
