I hope someone can help me out here.

I downloaded Dune BE from Beat, and tried to install. I can see Dune BE in the component folder, and I have a path to that folder, but when I try to add it in my project, Dune is nowhere to be seen!.

I'm a bit baffled here. Could someone help me figure this out, or even help me in uninstalling and trying again?

(which I don't exactly know how to do as I just got a mac recently and am still trying to find my way around the OS...):(

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

I know it sounds over the top, and other mix engineers may frown at it, but that plug-in played a big part in shaping my 'sound' - which I think is quite a big sound!"

The article also tells how big hits nowadays are done ITB etc, certainly the new generation of producers are throwing out the rule book.
Yup. that goes against what I've learned about proper gain staging. But then again- if it sounds the way you want it, I guess it works.

I've used a limiter when layering sounds for resampling but not on an individual bus for mixdown. As jasinski said, I'm so used to the old ethic. I have to admit, I'm also put off by "loudness wars" tracks to the point I can't even listen to anything on Beatport.

I've just installed Dune BE. I had no issues with the mail / download.

I'm quite impressed with the presets I browsed... this thing sounds great! Almost too many options out there... I only wish I have the time to get something working by the end of the month...

mm ya... who needs effects? :D :) Dune sounds great even as dry as a bone...

I have managed to get some VERY good natural sounding drums, guitars, and bass guitars out of Dune, if anyone is interested I can share them.

Which host are you using?

Just to make sure, you put your "Dune BE.component" here: [computername]/[drivename]/library/audio/plug-ins/components

I am using Reaper. (It's not recognized in GB either).
The path is not exactly as you have posted - Reaper gives me (when I browse for a path):
Users/eddie/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components

my vst path is identical, swapping /vst for /components

I also put your path in: eddie/MacHD/library/audio/plug-ins/components (tried also taking my username)

I have rescanned restarted reinstalled...

I see the Dune BE.component in the component folder at 8.5 MB

I'm stumped.

I just put in u-he's TyrellN6.component into the component folder to doublecheck on the path(s) in Reaper.

Reaper recognizes the TyrellN6 synth. (unfortunately, I was hoping for some Dune today...):(

I don't know Mac, but Audacity is a free host for both Mac and PC I believe, so might be worth to check if it works there?

I can already tell from the early entries this is going to be one of my favorite competitions, this synth really sounds great.

I don't have Reaper. I use Ableton Live. Maybe it's an issue with the compatibility of the host?

I've got 8.6 mb for the component file size.

Thanks, gave me the opportunity to finally install Audacity. Unfortunately, it's not recognizing Dune either - and it doesn't seem to work in real time.

It does sound pretty damn good...

Ahh...I do have Ableton lite somewhere...maybe Reaper and Dune have issues...

I get this from get info:"8,482,159 bytes (8.6 MB on disk)"

Thanks jas. Ableton lite recognizes Dune BE.

Looks like I can only use 4 instances of an external instrument in live lite, so I may have to render/bounce down a few tracks...:)

Yep, that is a really nice sounding synth! With no effects, wow!

(sorry for the thread hijack :()

Glad you got it to work at least. Good luck!

By the way, I'm almost done with - probably - the laziest entry of my own (Lazy August)
