Why aren't there import formats from all other major hosts?

Nice thought but strangely even the 'simple' formats (and these are ones with the specifications available like AES31 and OpenTL) are poorly and in some cases incorrectly implemented.

Who can remember QuarkXpress, a state of the art DTP package way back in the 90's I think, it really dominated the market in those days. Then along came Adobe's InDesign fighting for some share in this very market. Nobody dared to switch because they all feared redundancy of all their old Xpress projects. So this is what happened next, in a matter of weeks Adobe had produced a way to import complete QuarkXpress projects into InDesign and in no time they owned most of the market. So I wonder since all this is possible in DTP land why shouldn't it also be possible in DAW land?
One answer is definitely fear of loosing customers in the DAW competition.
Just observe how Avid acts with their ProTools branch. I'm afraid in a few years ProTools will be gone. Well, one less to worry about, concerning their projects I guess.
