Some years ago I did a VideoVST, which some will remember here, however the video library it was based on was buggy and crashed a lot.
A few years later I tried redo'ing the code using ffmpeg, got halfway there but got crashes and gave up.
It would need someone fluent in C/C++ to look at it and figure out where the bugs are. I'm not strong enough in my voodoo-fu.

Check your buffers and I think the video sync is clashing with the Daw sync/play engine
