Either Soldano is goodObiK wrote:I'd also add the new Slash Marshalls, which are super creamy and use our Soldano of course, but that's more a matter of opinion.AudioGuy720 wrote:If I didn't already own AT 3 for specifically metal I'd get:
ENGL emulation (ANGR)
LePou's Soldano
One of IK's Orange amps
Recabinet 3
With that combo I'd be set. Especially the ENGL emulation...I LOVE IT!
Is amplitube Metal dated?

Else... isn't one of LePou's hi-gain amps also based upon ENGL?
LePou's LE456 is "roughly based" on an ENGL. And yes, I did mean the ANGER amp I just am used to shortening it to the four characters of ANGR like ENGL when I write it out. I don't know why but yeah hahaha.
Unfortunately ANGR is only available in the Custom Shop not in Amplitube 3.
On another thread I said and I stand by it...if I only had one desert island amp sim it'd be the ANGR. Its cleans are super sweet when coupled with a good reverb plugin and it's high gain kicks the panties off the ladies. I demoed it for 5 minutes and bought it...it was really that good.

Even though it is Custom Shop only, ANGER is half priced right now during the CS Metal Gear promo.

I'm actually still thinking about it, Peter. Especially since it comes with the usual suspects in terms of mics (sans the RE-20, some condensers and the ribbons however). Though I'd only get the MD4x1 series and the AKG D20 on top of the already bundled SM57, C414 and U87 of AT3Custom.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:I guess AT Metal isn't too dated to give a good coattail ride! LOL... Don't ruin the opportunity with a pertinent megapost, Compy, please!
Hm... Amp wise I'd get a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier, a Peavy 5150, Marshall JMP, Randall Warhead Fender/Mesa/Peavy related cabins, some essentia stomps... but apparently no Orange amp. Unless the Metal pack changed.
Did I already mention that I'm more interested in a mic bundle and would then get selected cabinets (or a pack with "considered to be 'essential' cabs")?
Anyway... this might be of futher interest for the readers:
Comprehensive Amplitube Gear List (a bit dated, August 2011, but still informative)

Ooo, I can give a certain thumbs up to that! The other one I think you simply MUST own is the jet city 20.Brian @ IK Multimedia wrote:Even though it is Custom Shop only, ANGER is half priced right now during the CS Metal Gear promo.

Seriously? I got the Soldano and ignored the Jet Cities after that, 'cause, you know, sort of the same kind of thing going on there, just Made in China and fewer features. I don't know if I used up my "try" or not, I'll have to give it another look.hibidy wrote:Ooo, I can give a certain thumbs up to that! if you're talking about the Physical Jet City amps I believe you have not tried a Jet City either in the real world...so as not to derail this thread please respond with what features are missing from the JC in this thread but first pleas watch the video and please read my comments and that of others.Agreed wrote:Seriously? The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

I agree with this 100%! I LOVE the cleans I can get with the Anger amp, I really think people sleep on the cleans this amp is capable of because of its legendary reputation for sweet distortion and overdriven sounds!AudioGuy720 wrote:Compyfox wrote:Wait, do you mean the AT3 ANGER amp? Not trying to further derail on the Jet City discussion but this video shows both the 100 and 20, which is pertinent to this discussion as well as the ANGER amp's clean channel which does indeed sound excellent:

@jet city 20: Er, we were talking about amp sims, yes? Anyways, I absolutely adore the IK JET CITY 20.
It can be cleanish, crunchy, or downright dirty. Very responsive tone controls.
The IK SOLDANO has a problem. The output clips really easily. But it sounds nice.
@Hiwatt: I forgot I had that............time to go play around with it......

The cleans definitely surprised me the most. They remind me a lot of a dry Roland JC-120 sound but a bit less bright. When I plopped a Lexicon plugin after it is when it came to life. CSR or the built-in Amplitube 3 rack reverbs probably wouldn't sound too bad either.ObiK wrote:I agree with this 100%! And yeah, the distortion on ANGER sounds "just right" for hard rock/metal.

You could also completely ignore the on-amp reverb and use the room ambience in the cabinet section. This was something very popular among AmpliTube 3 users when it first came out.

I have a question about the Metal Gear discounts: if I buy say ANGER at 15 credits which is what it currently shows up for in the Custom Shop, it doesn't actually say it's discounted. But am I to assume that it is and that its price will go to 30 credits after the discount period ends? There's no indication of a "special" anywhere. Thanks.
