Actually, I think it's for anyone who's bought a Sonic Charge product in the past. That's how I got an email with the intro price, which I promptly used to buy it!Shabdahbriah wrote:For the 'beta-testers', which one would only have access to on the beta-forum.munchkin wrote:Can't see anything mentioned about an intro price on SC website.
Do you want to hear Sonic Charge's Permut8? It's here!

cheers Dean. making this thing reprogrammable under the hood and not even mentioning it anywhere just kinda astounded me.Dean Aka Nekro wrote:Mate it is rare that I have seen you excited. I mean that in the best possible manner. It must be sick, Going to have to try it (helps at last that I recently got a machine with abit of power to really properly demo newer software as on my old thing I was lucky to get more than an instance of many things going! Not to imply that this is would be a CPU destroyer though at all)whyterabbyt wrote:holy f**k. i just sussed the extra firmware.
speech synthesiser? custom code?
wow.
Cheers whyterabbyt and best your way and to everyone else as always

what you seem to get is a great wee effect all in itself, but its basically got a huge easter egg that opens it up completely into an retro-style 8-bit 'audio-arduino'.
i prefer open-ended software tools anyway, but this is it done to a ridiculously nerdy and cool level. and they dont even tell you.
btw, whacking a simple drumloop or something through this, an amp sim and then something granular and reverby (like one of the granular presets in that new Galbanum reverb) is my 'how can i haz drone?' recipe of the week...

I don't get what this plug does and what musical context or genre it is for. Sounds like a lot of random noise to me.

This is the kind of plugin where, if you don't get what it's for, you're almost certainly not in the target audience.

It took me ages to "get" Microtonic and some of the filters and synths I use that do not appear anywhere near the music I usually listen to (Jazz and Classical mostly) but I have learned to enjoy them as th fresh air that they are. As far as Permut8 goes I need to know what genre of music it is intended and what it can do in a musical setting.foosnark wrote:This is the kind of plugin where, if you don't get what it's for, you're almost certainly not in the target audience.

rabbyt: it has S.A.M.!!!whyterabbyt wrote:holy f**k. i just sussed the extra firmware.

wow.
Until recently I was using an Apple][ emulator to run SAM and recording the output through loopback into DAW.
It looks like he actually has a real operating system, unless it's just random, the disassembly looked real-ish.
I think this is my favorite effect plugin of all time.
