August 14th, 2012: Voxengo GlissEQ version 3.6 update is now available for download. Voxengo GlissEQ is a dynamic parametric equalizer plug-in for professional audio and sound production applications. GlissEQ is available in AudioUnit and VST plug-in formats (including native 64-bit support), for Mac OS X (v10.5 and later), and Windows computers.

This version implements the following changes:
  • Imported spectrum's color is now taken from the exporting instance.
  • Fixed user interface freezing on Mac OS X 10.8.

The most interesting and unique feature GlissEQ offers you is its filters with dynamic behavior. Beside this wonderful "dynamic behavior", GlissEQ features real-time spectrum analyzer. Moreover, the spectrum of a track can be exported to any other instance of GlissEQ thus making real-time inter-track spectrum comparisons possible. This can help you free frequency ranges in one track to allow the instrument in another track occupying same frequencies breathe.

would it be possible to add a DC filter last in the signal chain or make the HPF be post-harmonics...
the LPF seems to be...
i think it makes sense instead of using another EQ/filter right after GlissEQ for DC removal (when peaking harmonic filters are used...)

I'd like to see an option to hide everything but the spectrum display - that's all you really need to use the plugin and the rest takes like 40% of extra screen space.

This is, bar none, my favorite creative EQ plugin. I classify it differently than "character" EQs emulating this or that. It's definitely my favorite parametric EQ, because that's sort of where it starts and then it's so, so much more. it's just a hell of a good idea, very well implemented.

Add me to the list of people who have got very used to the Voxengo workflow. I've got all their freeware and keep them up to date, and I own GlissEQ and VoxFormer, both of which were EXTREMELY high-value purchases.

For anyone who hasn't tried it, VoxFormer is magical on vocals in any genre, even combined with a non-ideal mic or pre it can make great things happen, and feed it great material to start with to be rewarded with really incredible vocals. I've found (as others have commented, too) that it's also a very capable general channel strip plugin, with a nature all its own and very useful controls and functionality. A de-esser becomes hiss reduction on a guitar track, and the comps, tone-shapers, etc. are packed with great character.

My question is I wonder what I'll get next. I have a pretty healthy Limiter collection already, but Elephant is a classic for a reason, I have to imagine. Should I get it?

Thanks Voxengo for making extremely high quality plugins at very attractive prices, and supporting them very well. And for having a future-resistant licensing method which does not create hassles for your users. And for coming up with a great set of consistent features to encourage a smooth workflow when using multiple types of your plugins!

but I'd still like the output parameter, db range, and A/B switch present in such a "full screen" mode.

I'm pretty new to Voxengo, but really love their stuff. I recently got Elephant, GlissEQ, Polysquasher, and CurveEQ to finish up a track I needed to wrap up in a short time, and they worked great.

All of their plugins I've used (including their free SPAN analyzer) have lots of really cool features I haven't noticed in competing plugins. You can get the job done quickly without much tweaking, but if you've got the time to really learn them, these plugs offer a depth of functionality I haven't seen anywhere else. Really great stuff.

Thanks for your responses! I'm thinking about adding a switch to hide knobs, specmode and meter from the screen - like the switch present in SPAN, seems to be a common reqest so far.

DC filtering is not what I find useful/necessary, at least in the case of GlissEQ.

This will make me switch over from Pro-Q. I'm liking the spectrum analyzer in voxengo products *much* more, but so far the UI size issue has been what's been keeping me at bay, I just don't see myself using those knobs and other options 99% of the time when you can do almost everything in the spectrum display.
