Laptops getting Worse for for Recording?

I see about the same thing as Tehnik does with my two NI interfaces and a bog-stock year old HP dv7. And, I haven't seen any difference with my network adapter enabled or disabled.

The dv7 with an external drive for samples kicks ass all over my last XP system as far as music goes; even the relatively slow 2 GHz i7 in the laptop runs all over the Phenom 965 running at 3.4 GHz that was in my last XP system. Perfectly acceptable for music. It's slower than my main machine, but that's a 2700K i7 with 16 GB of RAM...
