I was playing with the very annoying demo, which detunes every minute or so, ready to uninstall, then I decided to try and import my own midi (think it must be disabled) but it let me, and I took a simple phrase I played and truned it into a very cool little string of phrases. So I went looking to buy if I could find it cheap, and Audiodeluxe just happens to have a Toontrack sale through the 31st if you use 'toon25off' code you get 25% off your Toontrack stuff. It cost me $89.25 which is $5 less than the last lowest price they had. Anyhow, throw some eggs or whatever but it looks like a cool little composition tool to me. The piano is whatever, not bad but I'm not a pianist either, but the transposition tool is really cool and I think it will help me with my music theory as well.

I downloaded the demo for this earlier and deleted it before I tried it. I was afraid I would like it and buy it lol. But for that price it might be worth a shot. Can you use this with other piano samples or are you locked into theirs only?

Well the plugin itself only plays their piano samples, but the midi can be applied to anything in the piano roll, so you could compose with this and switch out the piano at any point. Definitely its strength is as an arrangement tool but the piano sounds fine actually for my needs.

yeah it looks like the piano should sound good, just nice to have other options as well.

Forget music theory, try this.
Slice up your MIDI that's currently in your EZKeys by bars, then use the "Randomize" feature.

So is there any way to keep the internal sequencer from running when you run the DAW sequencer? I'm finding it interesting to use EZKeys to create small phrases as opposed to long arrangements, then dragging those into the DAW. It would be nice to just bypass the internal sequencer depending on what I'm doing.

D'oh! The handy-dandy 'follow host' button! I saw that yesterday but before coffee this morning I was brain-dead! What a relief!

But still, for adding a melody line that has a compatible scale and getting everything harmonious my music theory knowledge could do with some expansion.

That's where I come in and play a melody line that sounds nice.

I just like the "randomize" feature to discover nice chord patterns to play a melody line against.

Does anyone know where to download a bunch of short midi phrases? Something to basically 'mangle' in EZKeys? I am finding EZKeys to do much of what I have been using Catanya to do, with more dynamic results generally. I can make some phrases from Catanta and other arps and send that midi to EZKeys to be arranged. It is wonderful to be able to switch up arrangements on the fly in EZKeys, using the very basic chords you can send these to arps for more simple workflow regarding entering the notes into the piano roll. It works great for Strum. It is similar to how pattern arrangement works in BFD2 which I also just got so I'm really happy with it overall. I'm glad I didn't just get another synth, but took a little risk on something different.
