It took me ages to "get" Microtonic and some of the filters and synths I use that do not appear anywhere near the music I usually listen to (Jazz and Classical mostly) but I have learned to enjoy them as th fresh air that they are. As far as Permut8 goes I need to know what genre of music it is intended and what it can do in a musical setting.

This is mainly for dance music or more experimental tracks, possibly film scores etc. I'm sure it could find a use in contemporary jazz and classical as well. It can do bog standard delays/reverbs but there are plenty of other plugins for that. Suppose you want to slow down part of a vocal and have it repeat backwards as well as reduce the bit depth then this plugin can do it. If you like to have granular echos on your hihat every quarter or eighth then this plugin will do that. It can slow down, speed up, cut up, reduce bit depth, delay, reverberate and play backwards any part of a sound. This is great for rhythmic FX and evolving weirdness.

There are a few other plugins that can do this (Turnado, Stutter Edit, Reaktor) and each has its own unique sound. Permut 8 seems reasonably priced and as it's not a reduced, time limited intro price I'll wait awhile before buying it.

Thanks Munchkin for that explanation. I will certainly demo Permut8 and see what it can do for me. Once I finally figured it out I really liked the way Microtonic is designed and executed even and though I don't make much of the kind of music that uses synthetic drums I do enjoy messing with the patterns.

Gordon

Permut is just a verry genious approach and manipulation of ' a delay buffer '
You know that most of your chorus , flanging effects are at heart delay based ?
So this is what permut8 does , an incredible approach in manipulatin the delay buffer .
Pitch shifter effect ( routing an output of a pitch shifter delay back into the inputs , with constant rise .
Now perm8 (just as vallhalla ubermod) don't have a dedicated pitch shift algoritm , but by changing the delay you can also alter the pitch ..and modulating the delay time with a huge amount gives some really nice effects .
I thinkit's a great plug , but I don't really ned it , since I already have reaktor and that fullfills my needs .

Also found a bug , after deletion of perm8 ; the right channel of my signal is still inverted .
Eyeball exchanging
Soul calibrating ..frequencies

It turned a track of my sister singing accompanied by ukulele into something to be feared and amazed by. :-o
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Awesome plug-in!

I've never heard such a sick variety of twisted digital madness come from my computer.

I read the entire manual and it's still an enigma.

It's a deranged piece of kit...

Until recently I was using an Apple][ emulator to run SAM and recording the output through loopback into DAW....

Made a Short Spicy Demo track using Permut8, used several chains of MIDI controlled Permut8 and played Live and Recorded. Hence, a bit messy but all it needs is a few edits for clean n perfect takes for main projects.

I think I'm really addicted to this, I didn't sleep last night, have dark circles around my eyes.....it's crazy the amount of possibilities.....it's Brilliant Stuff

The way you think out of the box, I think you are a Genius....Thank you so much Magnus...May God Bless you...
