It's been a long long time since I used Nanostudio, but I'm doing a bit of thinking about a little project for the weekend.
Is it possible to use your own samples as instruments? Nothing fancy, just to load some looped wavs into Nanostudio and be able to play them up as if it was an instrument? I know I cna load samples into the TRG sampler, but I don't think I can play them up and down a range of keys. Do any of the synths allow this?

Yes. In Eden, when you select the oscillators, the last one is Sample. That will make a "load sample" button appear to the right where you can load the sample (either brought into NS through NanoSync, Dropbox or Audio Copy) into Eden. Once the sample is loaded, you can edit it as well (using the edit button, which I believe appears right next to the Load Sample button).
Once the sample is loaded, you can still use all the filters, envelopes and LFO's in Eden that you would use on the built-in oscillators.

You can actually do a bit more than that with the latest update. See:audington wrote:Perfect, thanks guys. Task for the weekend - sample and loop some presets from my fave synths for portable music making

You can use the "NoteChop" midi files that come with the desktop version of Nanostudio in you DAW to create a suitable WAV to spread across the Eden keyboard and this method can sound more authentic than spreading a single note sample. You can download some examples from the linked thread to try out. I have sampled a few instruments using this method and although it takes a bit more time and experimentation to get a decent result I have been very impressed with the results.
