Hello guys and thank you for your time.
for the last 2 days I have a major problem in my home studio.
There is a static sound coming out of my speakers.
Its a constant mid/high noise.
Yesterday, it came out only from the one and today the other one started as well.
my connection is Rme fireface -> Nano Patch (gain control) -> Event Sub -> Event Speakers. (all with jack cables)
If I mute the Gain, then the static sound is still coming out of the speakers.
If I hold with my hand the cables of the speakers (the cables that are sending the sound from the sub to them) it suddenly stops.
If I unplug the speakers from the sub, it stops again.
I have tried everything.
Could you please help with that because its driving me crazyyyyy.

Already did. Eventide has balanced Jack and unbalanced RCA. I tried with unbalanced rca as well and it is the same thing.

I'd try each set in turn, as well as isolating where the noise 'starts'Gkanian wrote:whyterabbyt wrote:try replacing the cables.Gkanian wrote:If I hold with my hand the cables of the speakers (the cables that are sending the sound from the sub to them) it suddenly stops.

1) Unplug the Nano and the sub, and go direct from the soundcard to the main speakers. If the static is gone, go to (5)
2) still got static? try different cables. if that solves it, it was probably the cables.
3) still got static? try feeding the speakers from something else, even an ipod or whatever..
4) still got static..? now you know the problem is with the speakers. youve isolated the source of the noise.
5) plumb the sub back in. If the static is still gone, go to (9)
6) still got static? try different cables to the sub. if that solves it, it was probably the cables.
7) still got static? try feeding into the sub from something else, even an ipod or whatever..
8 ) still got static..? now you know the problem is with the sub. youve isolated the source of the noise.
9) plumb the nano back in. If the static is still gone, go to (13)
10) still got static? try different cables to the nano. if that solves it, it was probably the cables.
11) still got static? try feeding into the nano from something else, even an ipod or whatever..
12) still got static..? now you know the problem is with the nano. youve isolated the source of the noise.
13) youve just hooked your rig back the way it was and the static is gone. problem solved?

I have unplugged everything and figured out how to stop the static in just one speaker.
However the other one still has it and there is arabian music playing if you listen REALLY carefully.
Maybe I am going crazy or the arabian guy who has a store right beneath my flat is making all this static somehow.
Thank you for your time once again.
May you never come up with this problem.
