ios device limit per apple id

I believe that is correct. However, if I remember correctly, it is only 5 devices at a time, not for forever. In other words, if you have a device that is getting old or has been broken (or for any reason you might want to remove it), you can reset the account on the old device, and then use a new device on the account.

iPad, iPhone, iPod (redundant) and Apple TV. What more do you need on one account? Or are you saying you need many devices for running many audio apps at one time?

There's not only music in life but yes I often use my 2 ipads as controllers and wouldn't mind a third one.
I'm also interested in the mini ipads, where I could use 2-3 of them to control my gear.
And I don't want to ditch the phone and/or the ipod.
Now I never user the tv, didn't even though that this would count as an iDevice.

You could split up. That is, one account for music making devices and another for personal stuff: phone etc.
There is something to say for an owner of many devices to pay twice for apps etc. Its not that expensive, right?

Although some apps are a bit expensive the main reason is that all of them are synced together, making their use in different situations a real no-brainer. And as I have my devices all around the place,it's nice to grab the first I find and do whatever I want, music app, adding a reminder, whatever ... Battery is down, just grab the next one
Buy an app, it gets automatically instaled on the other devices.
If I create a new account all this is gone, it becomes more pain than fun.
are you also limited with android ?

This might help:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4627
You can assciate 10 devices, any combination of iDevices and Macs with the same Apple ID.
And my I remind that, it effectively also grants you a 10 user license for everything you buy on iTunes and the MacAppStore.
Most music software just gives you 2 User licenses, NI grants you 3 and mostly every other software only grants a 1 user license.

Thanks, now this sounds better, and as I have a single computer associated with my id, I can have up to 9 ios devices.mindnoise wrote:This might help:

Again it's not really a question of money, I wouldn't mind to pay some extra for extra licences even if I never use any app on more than 2 devices at the same time. It's mainly about the syncronisation of all these devices together, sharing a single cloud.
Btw, you can't exactly compare the 3 licences from NI with ios apps, as you can launch 3000 instances of any plug at the same time, which is not possible on ios.
Now I better hurry, as the 10% deal on ipad3 ends today at my local store

PS:
But on the license comment I'd like to make some clear-ups:
short:
An End User Licences is referring to the number of hardware devices
you are allowed to install and run the sofware on at the same time.
long:
Reaktor, Traktor, Kontakt etc. are also Standalones.
E.G. You are only allowed to install and run your copy of say Traktor, Reaktor or Kontakt on 3 different computers and run the Standalone version at the same time. Same as iOS Apps, which are Standalones.
Plug-in Instances, on the other hand, are still referring to the same one software installation and the same one execution process on one computer.
(Meaning, how many instances of a plug-in you are opening in one of your ∞-number of different DAWs per installation on ONE Computer has nothing to do with it. Since you are also (usually) only allowed to run one copy of your DAW per computer at the same time, the problem basically eleminates itself. You can still only open your ∞-number of Plug-in instances inside a DAW only on a fixed number computers at the same time.)
And to close the circle, yes that would also mean that you are basically allowed to run the plug-in versions only in 3 different DAWs on one computer at the same time, or in any 3 DAWs on 3 different computers. But now this gets too much hairsplitting, even for me.
sorry if I was too teachy.
best

Yeah, that sounds like a convenient setupmbncp wrote:Although some apps are a bit expensive the main reason is that all of them are synced together, making their use in different situations a real no-brainer.
