just a hypothetical question:

what if you could have only one SYNTH plugin (no drum plugs, or hardware).

IF it came to it…really hard to decide. i love variety, the differences between plugins. but if i could only choose one, i'd choose… sylenth1. it's FUN, great at pads, basses, leads. weird stuff. mostly, i just enjoy PLAYING it; i have deeper, newer synths, but i guess "fun" is important to me.

so...no second choices, or alternatives. am daring you to choose just ONE... :o

If i could choose only one plugin i guess i currently would choose Tone2 ElectraX. Tons of features including resynthesis and sample import and great sound quality. BTW there is also a nice drums expansion/soundset available at the Tone 2 website.
Another candidate with tons of features would be KV331 Audio Synthmaster 2.5.

That's why I would definetely choose MuTools MUX...

Additional to tons of features, which makes really fun to play with, it's modular and continously growing...

Omnisphere because it covers so much type of sound and it has all effects built in.

If you buy Logic 9 since you're going to need a DAW for that SYNTH plugin you speak of, you don't need any synths and that's not hypothetical. :D

Reaktor for me too

which is sort of cheating, considering its more of a programming language than an actual synth.
