Consider a small mixer with preamp, you need 48V phantom power. Some examples:

The Studio Projects B1 is an incredible condenser for the money. Can't recommend it enough.
Pairs well with their VTB-1 preamp, but one of those little desks would work too. I'd go with Mackie, if you can.

Let's see...Ejmoska wrote:What about wiring? when connecting something like Xenyx 502 to audiophile do i need any extra cables?
The AudioPhile has stereo RCA connectors for input and output.
The Xenyx 502 also has RCA connectors for input and output.
So you'd need one or two bog-standard RCA cables of sufficient length.
How it sounds is a bit hard to predict. All mics are different, each has its own characteristics. Rule of thumb is as always: You get what you pay for. Some background info:Ejmoska wrote:and is Behringer c-3 any good?
How does this setup sound? Behringer xenyx 802 and a kit of 2 mics samson c01 large diaphragm and c02 pencil condenser mic?

(not that much info on the Samsons available, other than people that have them wanting to upgrade)
Regarding the mixer: I agree with bduffy that a Mackie mixer is preferred above Behringer. And it's all about the preamps. What you want first in a preamp is that it's transparent (doesn't color the sound in any way) and secondly the less noise as possible. In both categories the Mackie VLZ3 design won't let you down, but I'm not too sure about the others.
Sure you can buy cheap stuff now, and make some brilliant tracks with it and learn how to use it and what to look for with your next acquisition. It will serve you well for a year or two I think. So prepare yourself for that, save up a bit of cash each month.

Sorry to hijack your thread Ejmoska but I also have a mic based question!
All I after is a budget (but not so budget that sound quality will suffer) mic for recording vocal samples to use in Techno production. Any of you guys have any recommendations?
