Does anyone have any views on Camel Crusher as a plugin?

It's excellent and free,it's big brother Camelphat is even better.Great on drums,bass,guitar you name it.

Is Audio Damage worth investing in?

Or would you stick to Camel Audio?

IMHO Audio Damage is one of the best/unique developers. I would stick it to AD like a MF.

I haven't actually used Camel Crusher, but I've been using the CMFuzz in Computer Music Magazine.

Well in the end I got Camel Phat - which I'm sure will keep me happy for a while, it has a flanger I was particulary looking for, just need to work out the best way of controlling it with automation now

Depends what you are doing with it. Camelphat3 is very deep and has the ability to destroy sounds. Wicked filters in it.

I haven't used the AD one, so I cannot comment, but I hear the Kombinat Ava ? (I think that's it's name) is really good.

Don't forget Ohmforce Ohmcide or D16 Devastor if it's distortion you are after.

Kombinat Dva is wonderful, but it's very cold and harsh sounding. Great if you want noisy glitched up IDM (actually most AD plugins are great for noisy glitched up IDM). Not so great if your taste leans toward tubes, tapes and warm/deep overdrive.

That's what I thought, aren't they the same plugin reskinned?

I'm sure Camel developed the plugin for Future Publishing and created 2 differently skinned versions, one for Computer Music (CMFuzz) and one for Future Music (called something like FM Crusher?). Camel then released the plugin reskinned as Camel Crusher after the contract with Future Publishing ran out. I think the presets might be different between the versions but the plugin underneath is same.

At least that's how I remember it!

So one must be as good as the other, either way, as Kim say's, I do lean towards deep overdrive, warmth and tube, hence getting CamelPhat after using CamelCrusher.

I think I have more than enough to get me going, thanks for al your input.
