Just a why I have gone pretty quiet of late here in this department :D

Re the new model/price: I honestly would not worry about it being at a price which seems cheap/to good to be true almost even enter my mind/be of any concern aslong as it passes the acid test by sounding good and playing good. Look forward as I always shall do to hearing how you get on with it plus audio clips if warranted/you love it.

I certainly won't stop posting stuff I happen across which gets me abit excited/lustful over though even if it won't be my next or I will ever own it

Good old man  to you
Why would you think I thought you were moaning? I'm genuinely sorry you're having a rough go. :( Let's face, many of us have been affected. It sucks.

A. It's gorgeous
B. It's an Ibanez
C. You have no self control ;)

Seriously, it's going to be sweet. Just upgrade the pickups and get a good fret job for it, you'll be happy. If you haven't tried a Norton on a basswood body yet, you're missing out.

As for being too cheap to be true, that's actually pretty expensive for an Indonesian guitar, despite how pretty it is.
Well, the "premium" line is kinda pricy. I mean, I paid 799 for my 920 and that was cheaper than they go now (899/949) and the other "premium" hardtails go for 949 most places. So 699 street is cheaper by a bit. We'll see, I'm hearing over at SS that people are having action issues with it......I can always send it back :)

by the by, if it wasn't for the price I'd NOT have bought it. I'm just really really curious to see what it's on about. Really would like a decent hardtail to put a bit heavier string on and do some alternate tunings. The one I have now (a prestige) is a nice guitar, but I still like to keep in standard tuning and then use a capo from time to time. I'm looking for something I can chunk with.

I will keep those pups in mind, I know you really like them (the ones I mentioned I already have sitting here in a box)

All "premiums" are made in Indonesia.

I am sorry mate, I mean't to say the exact opposite in that you would never presume/think that. I should read back what I have typed out sometimes or it comes out all backwards. Just wanted to explain why I have been abit quiet on this thread as it is my numero uno thing to chat about and always enjoy talking with your goodself and the other gents. Appologize it came out unintended/the wrong manner.

Everyone has it rough which is what is exactly what I mean't to say & I know that I am never alone :) (even if I were, It would not change me) and despite the fact im a broke ass mo'fo I will not let it get to me/mention the fact over and over as I would hate to be the public moaner and shall continue to join in - That is what I mean't to say. You've said it for me above and so much better my friend :tu:

Please don't apologize, you are one of the best things about KVR. Your music is awesome, you're a killer musician, people look forward to hearing what you have to say. The knowledge you bring is awesome! You know WAY more about gear than many (most certainly me!)

I LOVE YOU MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

hmm, I didn't know that.

Return it and get this:

My 3120 has become my #1 Ibanez. It's a phenomenal instrument.

btw, I checked the eBay completed auctions and it seems that 3120's have gone up in value since I got mine. If you don't buy this one, I will, so we'll need to make sure we don't get into a bidding war with one another.

We are all equals here and I learn so much off yourself and the other guys here. I am not worthy and humbled and I LOVE YOU TOO MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

So I harp on and on about the win of Alnico V based pickups over Ceramic based pickups (even though the Ceramic based pickups can have quite abit more output and playing metal mostly it would seem an illogical choice right?)

Well this quick video by Bare Knuckle 'pups' tells the whole story for me:
 and I could just hear a Nailbomb, Aftermath or Blackhawk right at home instead of a DiMaz for variety/flavour and Eric have none of thiers never even tempted you mate?

Peace, Love & Alnico V

Ibanez used to use alnico in the bridge and ceramic in the neck. That makes some sense to me in concept, given that the alnico smoothes out the bright bridge position and the ceramic brightens up the muddy neck position, but both pickups were greatly improved when I replaced them with Dimarzio's. I once played a Fernandes with a Seymour Duncan Distortion in the neck position and I was surprised at how bright and chimey it sounded.

Those are f'n INSANE guitars!!!!!!!!!!! I looked into some stuff like that and they are just not going to happen. Caparison, guitar logistics, blackmachine, FORGET ABOUT IT  Too long a wait, thousands of dollars.......I'm not a good enough guitarist for that.

@BKP: I want. But they don't grow on trees over here. There is a distro for the US but seems they never have the stock of anything I want.

I did this same concept with my older LTD, when I bought my Daion from MW it had the stock pup in the neck and a Duncan Invader in the bridge. A while back I took the two Duncans I had in my Jackson and put them in the Daion (Seymour Duncan JB TB4 & Seymour Duncan Jazz SH2N). It's all in pieces but I still have my Ritchie Sambora Kramer (not bought because of RS) and of course it came with three Duncans in it (real Duncans, JB in the bridge and middle, JN in the neck) so I put the Invader in the bridge position in the LTD and the JB from the bridge of the Kramer in the neck. It really does sound good, call me crazy but I have always liked the invader even though I would not want one in every guitar it does have it's place.

That LTD is now set-up for stereo/mono and has two EMG PA-2 pre-amps in it (one is used when in mono), a beast in it's own right :tu:

BTW speaking of the Daion, I have the original knobs which are a big deal for the Power Mark XX model and it's resale value. They are these big aluminum things that I think are ugly as all hell, when I bought the guitar I replaced all the pots and knobs (even the switch knob) then I put the originals in a box. My Daion had one serious flaw that brought down the value and that was the brass truss rod cover with Power Mark XX engraved on it was missing. Note I said "had" and "was" because I now have a brass Power Mark XX truss rod cover, given the fact this guitar only ran for a few years and hasn't been made in 30 years I never thought I would see this. :D

However, I have no intention of ever selling this guitar. If I live long enough I'll leave it to my kids and by then hopefully they will get a nice surprise when they go to sell it :tu:

I know this thread is about guitars, but this is the bass that I really want to get when I have the extra money:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cort-Curbow-4-S ... 500wt_1050

I used to have the 5-string fretless version of this bass (different color) and I really loved the sound and feel to it.

My only problem is that I'm not sure I want to support Cort (even though I'd buy it used).
