Scanned Synth Pro by Humanoid Sound Systems

SSP2 literally floored me when I got it.

"huh, wtf is all this?" It really confused me, not your standard synth by any stretch.

But that's what makes it so cool, you can mess about with it forever and never get bored, as you aren't regimed by 2 osc's and a filter.

To understand it more I purchased a Xeno's soundbank, forget what it's called, but seeing it used to make a specific sound made me understand how the synth works better.

Quality item this, I really hope Enzyme is 64bit native, will be getting it no doubt.

There aren't going to be many rules with this new competition.
Just a few.
First one being. You must have a registered copy of SSP (Scanned Synth Pro).
Second being, you will use a choice of three synths - one being Harmless, or Alchemy Player.
The other one is to be decided. That's up for popular election - so make your voices known.
Third being: You shall use either Drumatic3, TS-808 or DrFusion2.


You can use whatever DAW you want.

Myself, haszari and kejkz shall give you a collection of loops and you can use as much or as little of them as you want. If you don't want to use any that is ok. ..

Anyway, what I need some feedback on is: what synth can we use apart from Harmless and Alchemy? I know Harmless is a paid for synth. What other free synth would you suggest, apart from Alchemy?


Anyway, I talk too much. This is just a general idea. Feel free to shoot it down in flames or give your thoughts.



The only thing for sure is SSP shall be the first prerequisite.

Harmless, or Alchemy Player or something else, what should be the third synth option?


For drums: Drumatic3, DrFusion2, TS-808. One of.

I'm working on adding loads more modulation possibilities, plus extra effects, multiple oscillators in unison, sample import (so you can play back a sample and add "life" to it using scanned synthesis) and more. So it will be well worth the long wait

Awesome, sample import, can't wait. Even though it isn't a Microwave, this is one of the synths I feel has the closest type of sound to it and this definitely gives me a similar feeling. Excellent job with this~!

We are still going to do a competition with this synth.

I know that haszari (the winner of the last competition)
and kejkz who helped me with the competition, are having a lot of fun with it.
And they are both up for doing a new competition with it.


The competition will be put up at Kriminal's thread for competitions which I see is stickied.


Please pay the $25 asking price for it, if you can afford it.
It is worth 10 times that price.
If not, pay what you can afford.
That is why we chose this synth and why we want it to be registered.
There is no excuse really.

There will only be one other synth allowed ( a choice of three ) the second of which will be Harmless by Image-Line - the third being Alchemy Player or the full Alchemy if you have it.
Plus a free drum machine - Again a choice of one of 3: TS-808, Drumatic 3 or DR-Fusion 2
DAW of your choice.

It is very limited I know, but also fairly flexible too, even for those on a a limited budget, so fairly open to all. Those that use paid software can expect to be rewarded in kind. ( Allowing for the generosity of the devs - which has still to be confirmed )

The only reason I put it here was because, the only thing set in stone so far is you will need a registered copy of Scanned Synth Pro.


This is also unofficial btw, I have not consulted with Humanoid Systems at all.

I like to keep the solicitations out of the equation. Because that might infer bias. This is independent. And no one has been asked to donate anything at all.
If they do, it is because they offered out of the goodness of their hearts.

It should be interesting if nothing else. And we want people entering to show off their musical ability rather than some kind of rush for me-too prizes.
The prizes will probably be shown quite late in the day - we already have things offered - but it would be rude to say who offered what. We want some good music here.

Sample import really excites me. I tend to like the sound of mangled non-electronic instruments much more than typical synth sounds, sort of like trying to get prepared piano sounds, or extended techniques (if you've ever seen Fred Frith play solo guitar, you'll know what I mean). Can't wait for this.

Development is coming on well now but it hasn't reached the point of beta testing yet. I expect it to be ready for release by April 2013.
