Omnisphere is impractical for commercial dancepop. Is there anything better?

Why would you go ahead and purchase Omnisphere if you are making mainstream dance/pop?

Nexus certainly seems to have the focus but I tend to lean towards Sylenth as to my ears, it has a really big and bold trancey sound (but is capable of so much more). Sylenth also lets you manipulate the sound with a very straight forward and sensible interface. Nexus is bloody expensive if you want to start buying the expansions. Just one question...When you buy Nexus1 on its own it comes with 1000+ factory presents, can you tell me what genre or style they belong to or is it just a random mixbag. The reason I ask is theres also bundles you can buy with certain styles of expansions. I just dont want to double up if you know what i mean.

How can you still buy the outdated Nexus 1 ?

It's all about Nexus 2 now, and it's absolutely hammered in commercial tracks everywhere. So why not be different ? DUNE, Sylenth, Alchemy, ElectraX, Massive, Saurus, KarmaFX Synth Modular, Reaktor etc etc list goes on and on, there is a huge scope for good modern dance music be it pop or a hardcore club style with plenty of good banks to go with them.

Omni I wouldnt think was ever designed with that in mind. Nexus2 was.

Thanks Ill keep that in mind. Just out of curiosity does Nexus have a right click learn function on it for all midi control? And if not, is the selection of sources very extensive (does it cover all fx parameters) or are you restricted to what you can modulate?

Why would you want to sound like everyone else? That's the way a lot of people get 'discovered' - is by a distinctive sound. Omnisphere can prolly do anything, so I don't see how you can say it's not for dance unless you want to do cookie cutter euro-pop, or paint by numbers American dance one chorus rap the next crap. There's many external tools you can run it thru also to get that. Filters, distortion, gates. Look at Calvin Harris. I have nothing but respect for him and I love the song 'Where Have U Been', but I loathe the instrumental break. It sounds like a virtual kazoo. But it's a 303 put thru a filter. Later on, during the 2nd brk, he does some interesting things with it. U have to remember, it's not what u got, it's how u use it.

if you were looking for advice of what to buy for your intended genre i doubt anyone would suggest omnisphere, but seeing as you already have it........it really can do what you want if you are prepared to program it

rather than strip down elaborate, effected presets, just start from scratch....omnisphere is a very powerful synth in it's own right with the added bonus of more soundsources than all the others combined....errr....probably

you wouldn't need to go too deep for fresh sounds, and with the help of the excellent envelope features and arp you really are well sorted for trance

the other thing is this idea of only ever doing one type of music (can't think of anything worse)....omnisphere is a perfect library for covering a lot of ground very well...you may find at some point you'd be interested in taking a break from pop and trying an instrumental, or ambient, piece.....

also, as has been said, within all genres, the people to watch are the ones breaking the mould...your perceptio of pop only is what it is till someone comes along and moves the goalposts....omnisphere is a great way to introduce such elements

Because sometimes we musicians like to make money, and that's done by getting the sounds the customer wants - which is usually the sound everyone else has already.

much of this is manipulated sample content...the rest of the synth stuff seems well within the reach of omnisphere

which parts do you feel are impossible ??
