Its requirements state that among other DAWs it is for Cubase 5 and higher. I have Cubase 4. I wonder why Cubase 4 is not supported...

I sure as hell hope that XLN learns from their mistakes some day.
AddDrums uses 3 band EQ's (two shelves, one peak), so does AddKeys.
The mixing matrix - either "mixed" sound within the VSTi with stereo output (FX included), or split without any FX at all (like the awesome tape sound in AddDrums, which shapes a lot of the sets.
And are the free versions allowed for commercial productions now? I remember something along the lines that they aren't. (or was it with FXpansion's BFD free one?)

You're right about that.Compyfox wrote:I sure as hell hope that XLN learns from their mistakes some day.
Hell yeah, sometimes I wish they would release their saturation module from AD as a separate VST plugin.
Also the distortion module included in AK seems great, with transformers and so on.

I'm pretty sure it's based on the vintage warmer saturation.K-Slash wrote:You're right about that.Compyfox wrote:I sure as hell hope that XLN learns from their mistakes some day.

Doesn't matter what it's based on, the thing is:
If you use the FX stuff for the drumkits and only use a stereo output, you're fine. If you route the individual kit parts to their own channel - you loose out on the used FX stuff which shaped the sound of the overall kit.
Looks like this is happening for AddKeys as well.

Well, apparently it's NOT like AD with key instruments. No midi component for loops, etc. like EZKeys. AD has a huge midi component for loops.KevWestBeats wrote:Its Addictive Drums with a Grand Piano, Upright Piano and Mark 1 piano.cyphersuit wrote:i have no idea what addictive keys is. is this like toontrack ezkeys?

My question was more like what's in Cubase 5 and up that is not in Cubase 4 which makes it usable only on those versions of the DAW?Smedberg wrote:Because it's like 6 years old?yairhol wrote:Its requirements state that among other DAWs it is for Cubase 5 and higher. I got an answer from xlnaudio. They said that it will probably also work in Cubase 4 only that they have not tested it. If the free version works then the full version will work also.

Hence my disappointment. I was really expecting something more than a piano VST, however insanely modifiable.BERFAB wrote:Well, apparently it's NOT like AD with key instruments. Agreed. They set it up in their pre-release hype to make it sound like it was more than just a collection of keyboards. Oh, well. I've got enough keyboards.filkertom wrote:Hence my disappointment. Yeah me too. I'm expecting ground breaking products from xlnaudio. Just a collection of 3 keyboard instruments is not so ground breaking to me.
Love AD though.

So *HOW* is one supposed to install the free version?
For me it's totally incomprehensible.
I've downloaded the engine with the Online Installer but there is NO way I can find the free version.
There's no link anywhere.
Very frustrating!
