I got this working!

For some reason it was confusing the 64 bit version and the 32 bit version of the plugin.

I deleted the 32 bit version of the plugin - and now when I set permut8 as a "synth" plugin - it disappears from the "effects" layout and appears in my "synths" layout *AND* you can set up a MIDI track to output MIDI to it...

Good at glitchy but also very usable as a echo.

I've tried to make a stereo'ish delay .. pingpong, crossdelay ... but i always end up with more db on one side of the centerpan

As a mono or slight stereo delay it sounds great..!

I had noticed the terminal window in the promo video, and wanted to check that out. I came to this thread looking for the username and password, expecting the whole thing to just be a silly little easter egg.

If I'm understanding this correctly, the entire plugin is actually the front end of an emulation of an 8 bit computer, complete with its own OS?!? My mind is officially blown! And it comes with SAM, my favorite speech synth of all time from back in the Apple ][ days?!? And a copy of Adventure? And you can load in different firmware to get different front panel functions? And you can disassemble, code, and recompile your own mods? This is absolutely amazing!

If I didn't need to get up and go to work in a few hours, I'd spend all night playing around in the terminal window. As it stands now, I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow night. Doh!
How do you do all this?
click on the logo to bring up the console.
enter user and password as prompted
you'll now have a command-line
type DIR to see the list of files
some like adventure are built-in command-line programs and you can RUN them
some like linsub and ringmod are alternative audio firmwares. you need to use PATCH to load them.
Thanks - I can't get it to work. It says please logon so I entered the name I registered with but it then says invalid command and won't let me do anything else

OK If I enter "logon" it asks for my user name and accepts that but what do I put for password? I tried my serial but that didn't work (I also tried password and Password just in case, and 12345678 etc)

Post

Oh I see username must be "username" then password can be "password". I was entering my registered name and serial

How do I load ringmod etc? I can run life (not that it does much) but I can't run ringmod and neither does load or patch work

Crackbaby wrote:Would i be rude to request "Randomize program" to be on front as a button? :)
There is a 'Randomize Instructions' menu item in the pull-down by the Program Display, and a hidden shortcut: *shift-click* the main menu button.
Crackbaby wrote:Midi assignable would be cool too!! Run an arp with midi cc to it
Indeed... +1. AFAIK from the beta threads, Malstrom hopes/intends to implement MIDI CC/assignability (ala MircoTonic) in a future update.

Code: Select all

I'm finding Permut8 great as well for very subtle shifts. This very simple track... I think like four main elements, all going through different mut8tions. Love this little box.

Bought this gem last night, here is first test destroying my latest Tremor Beat with it, automating filter cutoff and clock frequency and various bit switches on the fly.
