Apparently this is their answer for microkorg (answer? more like fancier design copy for me :P).

Shockingly blatant rip-off. Not even an attempt to disguise it. This is Samsung vs. Apple territory.

Post

well. i do like the ultranova sounding, but all that space lightning parafernally is just too much, and the price seems a little overrated for a monotimbre.
if this thing lowers the price and take away some unuseful garbage im on this fake microkorg all the way

Post

Actually sounds/looks kinda nice except the 'genre' knob which always cheapen things for me.

True, it looks exactly like a small Ultranova! ;) Apart from that, i dunno if negativity is really justified again. I think we all should be happy that companies like Novation still produce synthesizers. It's a tough market, if your name is not Moog. I most definitely won't buy one too (more into software anyway), but hell, it's so nice to see that Novation still produces synthesizers and does not totally give it up and only produces hardware controllers.

Btw, what's the actual price? I don't see it anywhere.

Edit: Ok, got it... 299 £/399 €

Post

RRP 299 pounds. Pretty steep. In general it seems to be a descent product and a good alternative/copy :) to/of microkorg. It might hit current generation of young performers/artists as it gives quick top 40 chart list effects/sound and make them spend 300 quid. But for me it is not enough to justify the expense. Software version of this synth possibly would make more sense if priced reasonably.

I was looking at it thinking, hmm, looks a little like my R3- and a lot like a MicroKorg. Suprised Behringer didn't make it hahahaha (or maybe they OEM'd it from Behringer). Still, looks fun and a lot of kids will love making noise with it.

wish they'd fix their Automap software to behave within many DAW's before they spend their time on copies of hardware!

From the other hand based on demo vids it sounds pretty much like Massive. So the only selling point compaaring microkorg/R3 from my perspective are hands on controls and vocal processing. The latter, nothing new.
So only the motion thing seems to be "fresh". But again it looks cool on a vid when performed live, in a studio most of the things are covered by plugins/automation/DAW features. Quite pricey in overall.

I'm already an Ultranova owner and was looking at this thing and found on the website more patches for free,

But I cannot download them, I've sent them a support... :x

Click the big arrow and they download. Import the download into your editor librarian for Ultranova (watch the video to see how)

PS. I don't have an Ultranova but downloaded all the patches direct from the page
